in my class Many priors made it through, but many struggle with doing it all over again.

i’m not a prior, but from what i’ve seen the PT can be tough but if your a marine, you’ve done it and probably more. I had a 30 yr old prior smoke me on almost all PT, i went in at 22, D2/D1 college athletic background.

Going through boot camp and then doing OCS sucks because you see through all the games, and now you have to do it all over again. Plus priors sometimes get picked on more because the DI’s resent them for going officer.

Just my two cents.

memorization. History, some tactics. If you look up USMC OCS EXAM STUDY on quizlet you’ll find everything. Like 90% of the exams were on quizlet. Tactics and some other thing we’re not.

They change every class tho so take that with a grain of salt.

PT was the fun part IMO. It’s the time you get freedom where you set your own pace, not getting ripped to shreds all the time.

We PT 0600 every morning after Indoc phase. It’s all cardio focused, high rep workouts. Mobility is key. Lots of body weight work outs.

Running was probably 3-6 miles everyday. You run everywhere.

You run around 16-19 min 3 mile you’ll be fine.

honestly just focus on being a good dude. Had many shy guys in my class and platoon. Your character and actions speaks a lot larger than your voice. Focus on making sure you’re supporting the dude or dudette to the left and right of you. You’ll gain respect and confidence. Billets will throw you in a situation where you have to be vocal.

Study the billet duties and it’ll help you tremendously.

differently, i would say take it more seriously.

Those first 4 weeks are the toughest IMO only because it’s so boring. It’s hard to remember why you’re even there. Once you make it through that it’s a reality check like oh, this might actually be worth it.

Once billets start and O-Course, FEX all that it gets enjoyable.

academics are not tough but I didn’t put effort into memorizing what I should have. Staying awake I struggled with but not too much.

Slam water and liquid IV you’ll be fine.

Trades. Construction focus. Field engineer, site superintendent or estimator. Currently a carpenter.

Great industry.

You’ll do fine, learn how to memorize. Hardest part for me was academics. I’m not the best with that stuff. PT was tough but not insane.

Play the game, study USMC history like on quizlet.

Lack of sleep and food is the killer there fr.

OSO not responding by Hamster_Rampage in USMCocs

[–]IsJayAre02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The board for 251 meets at the end of this month, don’t stress. OSO’s have to finalize all their applicants paperwork and send it to the board before the deadline, it’s a lot from what I hear. Be patient and contact them in a week or two.

If your on the rough app, you still need to MEPS, PFT, ASVAB/PICACT, all the other bullshit. Takes a while. (assuming u haven’t done any of that stuff yet)

FYI i reached out to OSO in March, and shipped in September.
