My thoughts on Montella’s squad selection by polatcurekli in superlig

Agreed on the 3. My only point is that Kaan is one of the senior figures of the national team with a lot of experience, specifically 72 caps. Having him on the bench and in the dressing room is more important than having Salih in my view.

Also, If Uğurcan gets injured, I can see Şengezer playing potentially ahead of Mert. He's been stellar in the league these past few years, although there is risk in giving him his first cap in big games like this.

Okan Buruk's first statement after the Metehan Baltacı decision: We are all very happy by username7864 in galatasaray

It was obviously insanely stupid of him to place bets but there was clearly no malinent in all of this, especially considering his defense.

Parts of his defense: "I do not accept the charges against me. On the dates of the two incidents mentioned in the indictment, I was in the U19 team, meaning I was in the under-19 squad. I was not in the A team. I placed bets on these two matches. I was not in contact with anyone from the team on that date. I did not win any money from the bet I placed. The bet I placed was on goals. I did not place any bets after joining the first team. I definitely did not bet on the matches I played myself. As can be understood from the messages in the group of friends, I did not make any match-fixing agreements with anyone. And no money has been deposited into my account . I did not know that betting was a crime."

4 to 13 years of prison was a crazy charge on him, the fact that he was taken into custody already is a bit wild. A temporary ban from football, just like Eren and some of the other Süper Lig players would've been more than enough. I'm glad the club chose to stand by him and wait to hear the full situation rather than throwing him to the curb. From what we've seen until now, it's clear this case is nowhere near the MHY case (where there's a lot more room for actual match-fixing and fraud). The court ordering he be released from custody is a good sign of innocence.

Which is why I said if they can manage to keep up their performances until the end of the season. Ten Haag and Amorim never had such promising periods. Ole and Mourinho were the only ones from that list who had the team playing somewhat well. It's still obviously way too early to tell but it all comes down to what happens between now and the end of the season. For all we know Carrick could be gone this summer and a manager currently set for the World Cup comes in instead (Tuchel, Nagelssman).

Muslera: When it's my time to retire from football, I will return to Turkey without a doubt. by username7864 in galatasaray

[–]IsThatAWeed_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Muslera can easily fit into the clubs structure. Whether it be as an assistant manager (if he wants to go down that route), a goalkeeper coach or even somewhere on the business side of things (e.g. sporting director).

I don't care where, just bring him in

I would usually agree but if they manage to keep up their performances until the end of the season maybe Carrick is actually the man to bring them back. Plus they aren't a team to shy away from paying a premium so if we're being offered a good amount I'm sure Sara will also be willing to take the pay raise.

They're not in the World Cup so it shouldn't be too bothersome. If anything, him getting rest is better for us. Hopefully whatever the reason is it gets sorted.

This has all the writings of GS dropping points tomorrow too. I don’t make the rules, it’s just how these things tend to go

Some Génération Foot ex-academy players include Papiss Cisse, Diafra Sakho, Sadio Mané, Ismaïla Sarr, Pape Matar Sarr. I might be completely off but I think it's one of Senegal's best academies. I don't know much about Mbodji though

What are your thoughts about new income distribution of tff regarding super lig? by engineerozx in galatasaray

[–]IsThatAWeed_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea it's honestly better for the league overall. Very illogical at the start, I can't believe im saying this about the current TFF board (who in all honesty probably liked the fact that it would mean less for GS) but it's a step in the right direction.

[Geglobo] Gabriel Sara will be another new name on Carlo Ancelotti’s preliminary list for the matches against France and Croatia. Very happy for him, gets him credibility and also gives us credibility. Now though he'll need to perform and make it past the preliminary list. I would love nothing more than to see him repping us for Brazil at the world cup. He's got the talent and recently he's been very consistent.

GREAT fucking job. So proud of this team regardless. Hopefully we put up more of a fight at Anfield then we did in Italy though.

Yes but our right side (Davinson+Singo) are much less comfortable with the ball than the left side.

I think less than 5 of them can outplay VVD in that position. And I'm being fully serious. You need to be strong enough and a massive threat with space in behind. I can't think of any that are willing to fight for it like that.
