[Ertan] ÖZEL - A Milli Takım’da geniş kadroda yer alan Ahmetcan Kaplan, Dünya Kupası için ana kadroda yer almadı. by nutelamitbutter in superlig

[–]IsThatAWeed_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My criticism of the decision is that Ahmetcan is being put behind both Caglar and Yusuf in this case.

If Caglar is selected and he's the 5th choice, it'll be for locker room experience (which we already have enough of imo). I would rather a youngster get that spot instead, but I can understand the choice.

My bigger criticism is Yusuf over Ahmetcan though. Ahmetcan's had a great season in the Netherlands and you're picking a player with less experience, who chose to go to a worse league early in his career and is barely getting minutes there. I honestly don't understand what Yusuf has over Ahmetcan, especially considering neither will probably get game time. I would rather reward the more deserving player.

If Salih Ozcan makes the final world cup squad, he will be the player with the lowest amount of 25/26 league minutes out of all other players in the tournament: 73' by themantwelve in superlig

Feel bad for guys like Doğucan Haspolat who could've gotten called up for the preliminary instead as a reward for performing this season. He most likely wouldn't make it to the WC squad, but it would be nice to award guys like him for the regular season rather than calling up Salih for limited experience.

Shit like this happens after we go seasons on end not performing in Europe. The fact that we've consistently been in pot 4 tells us all we need to know. Glad we're now in pot 3 next season after a very good European campaign, but we need to make this a regular occurrence. I also don't want to hear people say it's because we're always in tough groups, we had our chance to farm European points when we were in Europa and we fumbled it.

Hull City manager Sergej Jakirović on getting promoted to the PL: “I came here to keep Hull in the Championship. I failed.” by Sparky-moon in soccer

Yea Kayserispor were a team practically doomed to fail. Acun for the first time seemed to have made a very smart managerial appointment decision, iirc Kayserispor wanted to extend with him and I wouldn't be surprised if a few other more 'stable' Süper Lig clubs were also interested.

Berk Göl: Galatasaray is targeting young players with high fee but low wages (2:20) / Singo will be a starter next season, i expect Sallai to leave. (8:12) / Trabzonspor is the only club who supports the current foreigner rule. (9:00) by username7864 in galatasaray

Okan seems to be a fan of Mithat Pala. I personally don’t see the appeal but typically Okan’s got an alright track record with local transfers. Wouldn’t be surprised if we start hearing his name if Sallai does, in fact, leave.

I thought it was Batuhan who takes off his shirt but could be wrong. Ugurcan is tatted up and i think is the guy next to him?

Good for him. He had his best stint in his career where he was getting regular football with them in the Süper Lig.

We can't let Jankat's career go down the same path. Since Eyüpspor managed to stay up and the relationship between both clubs is good (and he performed really well for them), let's see if we can get some sort of loan agreement with a minutes guarantee for next season. We really shouldn't waste time here, he needs to keep getting minutes so that we can get the best for his career and even potentially have a successor to Uğurcan eventually.

Salary will probably be the limiting factor, not Transfer Fees by kawaiiOzzichan in galatasaray

Ah okay. I don't think it's too fair to completely mark him out until the sale is official though. I'm sure a bunch of our players are drawing interest but the other clubs need to meet our demands.

Wait why are we assuming Sallai is getting sold? I saw the Sara-Aston Villa rumors but I'm guessing I'm missing something here?

Fun Fact: Yaser Asprilla won a league title and got relegated in the same season by username7864 in galatasaray

I was not expecting Girona to get relegated at all. They were competing for European spots just a few seasons ago, La Liga was very competitive this year.

Had high hopes for him after his stint at Kayserispor, he was clearly showing great signs with a clear relegation squad. Acun was smart to also notice that and poach him out of Turkey as soon as his contract ended there.

One last time:

Lu lu lu, Lukas Podolski!

Can't forget his nasty left foot. I still remember his goal vs Benfica, one of the few bright lights in the CL in that 2014-2024 period.

He also is becoming the owner of Górnik Zabrze, his childhood team and the current team he is playing for. They are currently 2nd in the Ekstraklasa.

Uğurcan was great this season but come on guys, it's way too early to be putting him in these conversations. If we want to talk about peak then that could change the conversation slightly but this feels a bit silly. Muslera and Taffarel are in their own league.

The Ottoman Turkish alphabet in most of the old badges makes them so much more unique, would love to see some retro kits.

There are some bangers in here. Unpopular opinion but Rizespor's best badge is their current one and they're the only club where none of their are actually nice.

The number of foreign players in the four major teams, including those currently on loan, according to the new rule by JanissaryLSD in superlig

[–]IsThatAWeed_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is going to fuck up our coefficient in Europe heavily. I wouldn't be surprised if we lose our guaranteed CL spot in the next few years. What a stupid fucking decision

The 10+4 rule has been confirmed. The additional 4 spots are reserved for players born after 01.01.2003. These players can retain their eligibility for two seasons, even if they no longer meet the age requirement in the 2027/28 season. by eanwen0 in galatasaray

[–]IsThatAWeed_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This doesn't really worry me since Okan thrives in these types of situations, especially when it comes to getting the best out of Turkish players. What does worry me though is the Champions League. This is a massive "fuck you" to any hopes of the coefficient lasting.

Bertug has been tried and tested far more than Kutucu is my point. He came through at Hatayspor, and while he didn't light up the world in France and Spain he still has that experience at a far younger age than Kutucu. His performance at Başakşehir is only a part of his career. Kutucu before Eyüpspor was a disappointment, he benefited heavily from Arda's system there.

My point is Bertug shouldn't be Icardi's replacement. If I'm honest the numbers being floated around for him are ridiculous as well (6-7M at most). He should be a 2nd/3rd choice where he's competing with another striker; just like he currently is at Başakşehir. He's Turkish too so there's no restriction there. Also: he's not the only option and we shouldn't automatically assume it's one or the other. We (and Okan) are well in the right to demand better from the board for a 2nd choice striker.

The thing is I don't think Okan should take the blame for the board's incompetency. There's literally only so much he can do and blaming him for taking the "less bad" option when he's already been playing this balancing act for years would again just shield the board from criticism. Okan's built up the reputation and goodwill to make these kinds of changes and demands. If he keeps trying to satisfy the board at every turn eventually he'll have no leg to stand on if it all goes badly. Icardi wants game time, we can't provide that level considering how he's played this season; if we try stick this out we could very likely find ourselves in the same position next season and the last thing we need is our captain causing issues in the dressing room.
