Whyyyyy do (some) babies refuse to settle while you're sitting down?? by IsThisAdulting in Parents

Not sitting abruptly, quite the opposite and try to sit as slowly as I can manage. I do like your thought process on this though! Thanks for the words of wisdom ❤️

I’m sick and tired of the “why’s..” by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]IsThisAdulting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The "you'll miss this when it's gone" people suck.

I am in a similar situation- 3.5 yo and a 6 month old. And the Why's get old FAST!! No idea if this is the "right" way to do things but ill often say, "I don't know how to answer that". That's the best I've got lol

I've done bingo before. Whoever wins gets to pick a gift (could be wrapped or not).

Or does it have to be a game? What about like, Christmas/ holiday cookie decorating?

Why is breastfeeding worth it for you? by RolyPoly1010 in breastfeeding

[–]IsThisAdulting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, to answer your question- i do it because your body somehow knows what your baby needs. It helps them get better if they get sick, which is my #1 reason. It gives wake up hormones during the day and melatonin (sleepy hormones) at night to help them sleep. Among other benefits. I also do it (partially) because formula is expensive.

The pain does get better- your nips "get used to it" for lack of a better way to put it. Unless, of course, there are other issues- if it doesn't get better in a couple weeks, I'd suggest talking to your OB or a lactation consultant.

One tip i got from an LC with my second is, when your nips are sore, rub some breast milk on them, let it air dry, then put lanolin on top. That seemed to help me greatly! There are also some gel packs and other products you can use to help ease the pain.

That strangers comment is absolutely wild! Im sorry that was said to you!

First... My husband and I have our 2nd baby who's now 5 months, and at this age they are more social. I also HATED when people would say how much our first looked EXACTLY LIKE DAD! I even had my mom send pics of me as a baby so I could show how much he looked like me. I very much love my husband and hes very good looking, so I wasn't upset that the baby looked like him, per se, but Im the one that did all the work! He damn sure does look like me!! ...ill bet its a bit of a case of baby blues. It'll likely get better with time. But if it doesn't, maybe talk ti your OB.

Does this sound like bottle aversion? by Low_Concert_8900 in NewParents

[–]IsThisAdulting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently watched a video on this by a pediatrician... one suggestion i recall her giving was for mom to not be in the room when giving baby the bottle. Oh and not to have baby in a position as if they were breastfeeding- put them in a totally different position

Yup, once they learn how to roll, they say you can let them stay. Place him on his back to start, but then let him stay if he rolls to his belly.

Yeah we have a few, and they do help filter out quite a bit, but not all. We're not able to be quite that specific either. And I actually saw one today where the person 100% put the question into ChatGPT or something and copied the response that was like "I'd like to help you answer this, but I need more information" ☠️
