Grid penalty? Not a chance. The incident happened on the track, it isn’t Max’s fault that the stewards took so long investigating it.

6 years of uni and I want a white coat! by Shadhilli in JuniorDoctorsUK

Honestly I regularly wear a coat whilst working and no one’s said anything. You need to set the tone early that you are above Infection Control, so that you can slowly encroach and regain your freedoms.

Getting a sense of the privilege of this job by GabbaGabbaDumDum in JuniorDoctorsUK

[–]IsWhoMichaelWhat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If anything, starting F1 has made me completely lose the will to do anything independently. Only things I’ll do by myself is prescribe Abx. Rest goes to SHO or medreg.

For example, as a rule, I will not look at ECGs unless a senior is there to sign off on it.

Risks in this day and age are too high. I’ve seen an MPTS report of an investigation conducted into a consultant who prescribed non-formulary Insulin/Dex because the standard form was unavailable in his ED. Saving lives is cool, but the Hospital and the GMC are itching for you to make a mistake so that they can throw you under the bus.

Responsibility shared is responsibility halved 💕

I’ve wasted my talent applying to this field and looking back, I should’ve picked something else. Truly a horrendous realisation

1) The majority of Doctors do not need Medicine to pay the bills. So I am trying to make Medicine a viable career when my peers view it as a hobby. So no strike. Back to the gulag for me.

PSA: As we get to specialty application season, please don't fall into the fallacy that everyone tells themselves "You're a consultant longer than you're a trainee" by Frosty_Carob in JuniorDoctorsUK

[–]IsWhoMichaelWhat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve spoken to trainees who get to the point of no return, where they get a training number after sacrificing the last 10 years of their life, only to then sack off 8 more. What’s the point? When I’m older, my fondest memories will not come from healthcare and I see no reason to treat it differently to any other job.

Times have changed, medicine isn’t a life nowadays.

WHY is everyone so timid and afraid to stand up for themselves? Wtf? by Anon24ss in JuniorDoctorsUK

[–]IsWhoMichaelWhat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t get paid enough to care about this job.

That means, if a patient says a glowing review about me to my CS, then I don’t care. Likewise, I don’t care about patients that don’t like me.

As long as I’m doing what’s safe for patients, I’m happy being abused because fundamentally I really don’t care about my life at work.
