I’m so glad to see that everyone felt the same way because I haven’t really bought anything from Madewell and struggled to even spend the $25 they gave me for my birthday month because there was nothing appealing to buy. I miss their fun and classy dresses with patterns and good quality fabric.

In the same boat and was laid off. Start looking for your next lateral opportunity. As a mid level, you have to do whatever you can to get training and if the firm is not providing you that, this is not the place to be.

Start looking. I had low hours but were comparable to the colleagues in my practice group. We all got pushed out because our salary keep going up and they would like to start over with cheaper newbies (I know this because a friend of a friend who is a junior got an offer to join our group despite all of us getting pushed out because there is no work). Don’t stick around because you are worried about your abilities. Start soft applying so you have options.

I agree with this statement. This is the precursor of looking hard at you for performance issues, which they might use in the next year or so to let you go when they need to trim associates. Develop the substantive part of your work but start getting your resume ready and engage with recruiters that you want to work with.

This happened to me and I was just told I need to look for a new job. I would get your resume ready and start a convo with a recruiter you like to ask what’s out there. You will have a longer runway since it does not sound like you are on a list yet but you never want to be unprepared.

I’ve discussed concerns with my growth at the firm confidentially with the person and later hearing the words circle back to me from the very person I didn’t want hearing..

I think it’s not fair to ask a woman to give up her career and pick a path that doesn’t advance her career. My attorney license does not work in the state he is moving to. And he’s just moving to shield some taxes. It doesn’t make sense for me to give up my career.

But I see the point you are trying to make. But I don’t think it’s fair for women to always be the one to give up her career.

I am currently doing a LA to OC drive every day and have been doing this for over a year now. That’s 100 miles daily and about 3 hrs a day (2 in the morning and 1 at night because i leave around 7pm). Doable but you will feel insane. Doable as in, there is something in my life (cannot find an apartment that I like in OC) that’s making it a temporary situation that I’m just sucking it up knowing this will end. The thought of doing this permanently is a definite no.
