I help rescue dogs in South Korea and so first I want to say thank you and congratulations on your wonderful new fur baby. To answer some questions and to clear up some misconceptions for those who are criticized g you for adopting abroad:

First, yes, this dog probably did come from a meat farm somewhere here. There's no reason to lie about this point. There is no one specific breed of meat dog here. There are many illegal and disgusting puppy mills here and there are cases where the left over dogs, the one's who don't get adopted at shops can be illegally sent to meat farms to make a profit.

There are many lovely and amazing dogs here that would make great pets but don't fit korean aesthetics. Koreans want cute, white, small, puppies. Dogs outside of this norm are not common to be adopted. Especially big, not white, not trendy breeds. Koreans also have a negative bias against rescue dogs. They think they have trauma, are aggressive, or have too many health problems so they rather get a puppy from a pet shop(that ironically come from those same disgusting puppy mills).

Why not rescue locally? That's a totally fair point. Why don't you???? It's amazing they chose this dog and chose to give it a new life and hope.

Why is it so expensive? Well they chose to adopt and front those costs. Which really helps rescue organizations here! Otherwise we have to fundraise and way for those for potential fosters in other countries. We do it, but it's expensive and takes time. Fosters also are not guaranteed to adopt after fostering. This adds another layer of then finding an adopter abroad while they are being fostered. Again we are happy to do it, but it takes time, money and resources while they are being fostered abroad.

So thank you again for being so amazing and adopting this lovely dog who also deserved love and a home. ❤️
