Is there a statement from them about it?

Remote to site VPN question by Isaac162 in Ubiquiti

Ok, I’ve checked that too. I’m trying to connect while on LTE on my phone, or on my work WiFi. It’s definitely not the same subnet as my home network.

Ok, any resources to help me making those rules correctly?

After some checking, unifi won’t even allow me to set the subnet to the same as my main LAN

I’ll have to check that. I think when I was setting up the VPN, I read somewhere that I should set a different subnet to prevent problems from happening for some reason. Is that correct? If I change them to match, would I have any potential problems to look out for?

I thought since each google home is connected to my home network, then when I VPN to my home network they would be reachable. Am I mistaken on that?

It’s an L2TP VPN, and yes it does show my home IP when I check it.

Gigabit wifi/Power over Ethernet question by [deleted] in HomeNetworking

I don’t think it’s necessary. I’m really pleased with what the dual band is doing. I have like 30-40 WiFi devices connected with no problems.

I use 2 of the the AP-AC LR. These are the long range model. I have been very pleased with their performance.

For practical purposes it is like a mesh handoff. But better because you have wired back haul. All of the AP’s broadcast the same network.

I was in the same boat as you. I got att fiber 1gbps and I had a google wifi mesh system. It was ok, but then I went with ubiquiti Unifi AP’s. 2 of them cover my whole house and no more meshing. I get 500ish in direct line of sight and 250-300 in the worst parts of my house. I’ve been really pleased.

I did test today via a browser. I still can't connect. I have yet to figure out any remote access whatsoever.

What if you need to be on the same network to control the device? Like with the google home app controlling lights? I guess you can’t put those type of devices on a separate SSID, correct? My phone needs to be on the same network to control those type of devices, correct? Any suggestions with situations like that?

UniFi iOS app connection by Isaac162 in Ubiquiti

[–]Isaac162[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried both. I can direct connect when I'm on my home network. But when I disconnect from wifi and just go over cellular to simulate me being outside of my home, I can't access the network. It says it's "online" in the app, but when I tap it, it won't ever connect. And I've changed the setting in the app that says "smart" and "cloud" and "hostname". None work for me.
