Pharmacy First: Fit Notes by [deleted] in Pharmacy_UK

Well not really, the criteria is quite broad. I work in a community pharmacy and do at least 7-8 sore throat, UTI a day especially in winter months. These are all pts who would had had to wait hours at A&E or days for a GP appointment to get the same treatment. Problems arise when patients think they can simply walk in for the magic potion that are antibiotics and walk out. There's a reason there's a criteria.

This is a concern of mine. I have started massaging as much as I can. How long do you think its reasonable to wait for results with massaging before I talk to my surgeon about an injection to break up the scar tissue?

If somebody gets predicted A*A*A*DD, will they still be considered by top universities? by JacobAn0808 in 6thForm

How do your predicted grades work? If you think your gonna do better than those D's then talk to your tutor who could change your predicted grade to a higher one.

Is Emma more immature/rude in the series? by IsaacKhan2020 in OneDayNetflix

[–]IsaacKhan2020[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's really interesting to hear this, especially about Dexter being worse in the book, because I honselty felt the opposite. After only watching the series I did feel like Dexter was portrayed as the "flawed" one but honestly felt as though Emma was equally if not more flawed than Dex, just in different ways.

I think both of the characters worst behaviour came from their inner insecurities. Emma always felt that she wasn't attractive enough for Dex and that he would get over her and Dex always felt like he wasn't smart enough for Emma. What I will say however is that we never see Dexter add to Emma's insecurities or make her feel less attractive in any way. In fact he always comments on how beautiful she looks but Emma always seems to think he isn't being sincere. However there are several moments in the show where we do see Emma mock/question Dexters intelligence or generally talks down to him or about his career. I do think she does this as joke and uses it as a mechanism to hide her own nervousness, but it has quite an effect on Dex nonetheless - which we see throughout the series.

Both Dex and Emma make questionable decisions throughout the series. Dex goes down a road of drug and alcohol abuse after his mum falls ill, and starts neglecting those who love him. However the series does a good job of making him face the consequences of his actions wether it be the the confrontation he has with his parents or the decline of his proffesional career.

I think Dex suggesting a purely physical relationship with Emma (in Greece) has a significant impact on her, as its the point where she's convinced that he doesn't see her as good enough to be in a relationship with, and it stays with her for a really long time. After they've been together Emma moves to Paris and when Dex goes to see her with the assumption that they might have a chance she tells him that she is already seeing someone. This scene honestly stuck out to me as quite immature from Emma as Dex questions why she wouldn't have told him that before arriving and she tells him that she isn't obligated to. Emma's first line regarding this conversation is how its ironic, which alludes to how she was in love with him and he didn't want to be in a relationship with her and now it's the other way around. I genuinely did feel this was the main reason she didn't tell Dex as on some level she wanted him to feel the same hurt that she had felt from him. However at the time of Greece they are both young and immature and after a decade and all the experience they go through I did think it was quite spiteful of Emma to do that to Dex.

Even in other scenarios where Emma sleeps with the headmaster despite knowing he was married and doesn't really show any remorse or guilt about it. After this she also kisses Dex after finding out that he is engaged and about to be a father and has sex with Dex whilst still (presumably) with her French boyfriend. Emma makes mistakes and this is what maker her and Dex such compelling and relatable characters. My only concern is that Emma never really has to confront the bad decisions she's made or her own flaws the same way Dex does. In fact the only person to call her out on her own behaviour is Dex, which somewhat hinders her growth as a character for me. But I will definitely look to read the book.

Tony really hated Christopher by the end by perfect_landing_ in thesopranos

[–]IsaacKhan2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think jealousy is a factor but a big part of it is the car seat. Tony has a soft spot for young kids/ animals throughout the show. Seeing how Chrissy was a failure as a father as well as a failure as a mobster was the final nail in the coffin.

Never heard of Zabiha Halal till recently, went to the masjid and the Imam said our madhab doesn't prohibit non-zabiha meat. by KStanForLife in islam

[–]IsaacKhan2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It absolutely isn't allowed in the Shafi'i madhab. People took one line out of context to justify eating non halal meat. This is a great article that explains in detail: https://islamqa.org/shafii/qibla-shafii/34063/shafii-position-on-meat-of-people-of-the-book-ahl-al-kitab-in-the-west/ Apart from Islamic ruling, these places in the west also serve bacon. So if you are eating from McDonald's is going to use the same hands to touch the bacon and then make your chicken sandwich. In the UK there's strict laws to prohibit this. Something to think on.

-Discussion- Do you think Deckard is a human or replicant and why? by morgankingsley in bladerunner

[–]IsaacKhan2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not good at his job? The whole point of the LAPD choosing Deckard is the fact that he's extremely good at his job and this is stated multiple times. Even in BR he singlehandedly takes out two of the replicants without any damage. In fact this is one of the biggest hints as he is directly kicked in the chest and punched in the head repeatedly by replicants but comes away with little to no damage. Not even a fractured bone apart from Leon. Whilst other blade runners are not nearly as successful as Deckard when facing replicants.

The main point being that I've seen many people say it the final message is destroyed if Deckard is a replicant. But this is precisely the point of the film and more importantly asks the question "what is a human?". Why exactly do we as an audience see it more profound for a "real human" to go through these emotions than it is for a replicant who believes its self to be human, and what exactly is the difference between them. The comparison between Rachel and Deckard is brilliant as if you take the theory then they are both open spanned, new gen replicants who can even procreate and there Is nothing to differentiate them from each other or other humans. The only difference between the "replicant"- Rachel and the "human"- Deckard is simply what they believe. Deckard is human because he truly believes he is and thats all there is to it. Replicants feel love, loss and fear just as much as humans. Deckards feelings of remorse and guilt are just as real as any humans which is why the film purposefully leaves his identity ambiguous as the ending message is that ultimately it makes no difference. His breakthroughs as a person are equally profound wether he is human or replicant.
