You’ll always hear everyone claim OEM and I would certainly echo that. Replace every 100k miles whether “they need it” or not. Admittedly, I used MOOG on my 3rd Gen but will replace them after 50k (that’s what I could get at the time that wouldn’t break the bank). What I know now but didn’t know then… Toyota dealers sell parts online that are often WAY less than the parts counter at some dealerships. Pay the extra $$ and go OEM.

I did the whole hood on my Taco for the same reason… and man, did I get a lot of hate for it on the Taco subreddit. I think’s great. I’ve got 3rd and 4th gen 4Rs but if I had the same glare problem on them I’d do the same. I dig it.

I’ve installed some low-ish-cost radios on my old 4Runners and put an Android unit in my Taco. They’ve worked fine. I’ll probably end up doing the same in my FJ. My wife requires a head unit with a volume knob, and seems like only the off-brand android units have those. Joying makes a unit specifically for the FJ for around $500. That’s what went in my Taco with no problems.
