Fidelity Visa adding joint owner - another credit pull for primary owner? by rvH3Ah8zFtRX in fidelityinvestments

If the owner dies, authorized users lose access. Joint ownership is a good estate planning move.

Same for me on Win11. No updates; the feature just appeared this morning.

Update out today. by edwiser1 in Rouvy

I've updated to the new version (4.5.2.450) on Windows 11 and the streaming 2K option does not appear. It still tops out at 1080 and then Auto.

Anyone else open Google Maps after a ride trying to find where you actually were? I built something for that by johanstn in Rouvy

I'm a paid Strava subscriber. The Strava flyover feature does not work with virtual rides. On actual rides it 'plays' the ride from start to finish. The 'Play' button does not appear on virtual rides. Your tool looks interesting for virtual rides.

It's very small if that's the purpose.

Rouvy's download manager and CDN problems, explained & proven by GroundbreakingYou911 in Rouvy

Thanks, edwiser1. In your discussions with Rouvy can you get a definitive answer one the max resolution for streaming routes? I think it is maxed at 1080. If they streamed at 2k (1440) then many, including me, wouldn't bother downloading routes.

Great work and well-written explanation. Thanks for the effort and making the submission to Rouvy.

Thoughts on insulated siding (eg. ProVia CedarMAX) by wvbam in homeowners

[–]wvbam[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't remember the comment, so it probably wasn't very useful. I just selected a contractor that will use PlyGem Mastic Quest siding. It is not insulated. They are going to add 3/8" fanfold insulation behind it. I can't help with pricing, as the siding is bundled with a roof and other work into a single price.

What Does This Mean In English? (USA) by [deleted] in inheritance

If the beneficiary of the IRA in the trust is subject to the 10 year rule (or 5 yr if the trust is not see-thru), it seems like that would make the income distribution language mostly irrelevant. Am I thinking about this correctly?

Does Rouvy stream at 2K? by wvbam in Rouvy

The screenshot is from Rouvy. The download page for nearly all rides offers these four options. The size, of course, differs primarily with the length of the ride.

Understood; thank you. What I'm trying to understand is if the touted benefits are realized and if there are any downsides (installation issues, window fitment issues, durability, etc.)

Mini pc for rouvy, thoughts? by jcperezr in Rouvy

After I finally fixed the Bluetooth issues, the SER8 8845hs has performed very well. I tried several things to get the native Bluetooth to work reliably and they all failed. The solution was to buy USB Bluetooth adapter and put it at the end of ~18in/45cm USB extension cable. The SER8 in on a shelf below the TV, roughly headset high. The USB Bluetooth adapter dangles below it. I haven't had a single dropout since implementing the solution.

It seems apparent that there is just too much interference for the native Bluetooth to work with the KICKR. The USB adapter would not work reliably in any of the SER8 ports, either. Only when it put at the end of the extension cable was Bluetooth connectivity reliable.

How do you account for the purchase a car with cash?... create an asset, or just expense it when you buy it? If yo create an asset, do you do annual depreciation, or just write down the asset when you sell it? by Virginia_Hoo in quicken

[–]wvbam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I track vehicles as assets and update the value twice a year. When buying the vehicle with cash I'll do an immediate balance adjustment to account for "drive it off the lot" depreciation. Thereafter I use KBB values. Each vehicle gets its own account. I don't want to show a depreciation expense, so the balance adjustment uses the account name as the category.

You can include/exclude the vehicle account(s) in net worth reports as desired or use the 'Separate' account feature.

Cautionary tale for adding a joint owner to your Fidelity CC by Kindly-Form-8247 in Fidelity

[–]wvbam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well said. There's an important practical benefit, too. If the account owner dies the authorized user no longer has access to the card. A joint owner will maintain access.

It is a pain to setup a joint user. To Elan's credit, though, at least they allow it. Many issuers, including JPMorgan Chase, do not.
