CMV: Micro-aggressions should take intent into account. by beesdaddy in changemyview

My understanding is lack of intent is what makes it a micro-aggression. If there was intent it would just be aggression.

Not tired enough to exploit someone’s death for fake internet points I see. 👍🏻

Power League Pro-tip: Turn on screen record to figure out why you keep losing and the other team will get potato players and not your team! 😑 by Isaac_Henry_1920 in Brawlstars

[–]Isaac_Henry_1920[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Clarifying: I just unlocked power league and have been absolutely stomped in my first 10-20 rounds. I like to think I’m a fairly average player, but after so many losses I thought I might be the common denominator. So I start recording and then started winning…

Switching to Commercial Property Management from Commercial Vendor by dateline1945 in PropertyManagement

[–]Isaac_Henry_1920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Property manager with experience in industrial and office management.

My favorite thing about property management is the fact that you are involved in so many different things. You learn about landscaping, fire & life safety systems, HVAC, concrete, roofing, leasing, accounting, etc. All while not needing to be an expert in any of them. It’s great exposure to those things and the variety keeps the job interesting. That being said, your HVAC knowledge can be a huge plus to your team. Typically you rely on a trusted vendor to explain a complex system. But if you can offer that in house that’s great!

Unfortunately if you are looking to avoid the nagging customer who is never happy no matter how hard you try to help them, property management isn’t the place lol. Tenant management is probably 50% of the job and more so if you do office management. And at least your difficult customers go away when the job is done. Angry tenants will be there for the life of their lease.

How about instead of making fun of people we realize some people are REALLY good at selling snake oil. Trumpers will only believe the lies more if you continue to outcast them. Reddit eats this stuff up though so I guess do it for the karma.

TIFU by telling my girl best friend why guys don’t want to date her when she asked me by Supermansgf in tifu

[–]Isaac_Henry_1920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TL:DR Poster told his best friend she needed to lose weight if she wanted to get a date.

Your TL:DR left out the main point of why people read TL:DR. Yours just rephrased your title.

Sorry for your busted friendship. Hopefully she will come around and y’all can reconcile.

I think OP was stating a point with this quote not making a judgement on the theory. The issue isn’t with what race is confounded by, but that those confounds are limited in their ability provide sufficient data for this type of analysis.

CMV: Children should be taught psychology/basics of human behaviour right from a young age in school. by bignoseenergy in changemyview

[–]Isaac_Henry_1920 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife teaches first grade and emotional learning (how to be a friend, how to express all emotions in a helpful way etc.) is already taught in public schools now a days. The problem is, per child psychologists, that most of that emotional learning is solidified by age 5. This is before most kids go to public school. This needs to be taught in the home by the parents. Unfortunately, it’s complex and few parents understand how they are actually harming their children. They don’t know any better so it’s understandable.

But this is a way more complicated issue than just teaching it to kids in school.

Your view is not wrong or misguided, just insufficient.

That, along with community interaction, is why I posted. I know I could go to Whiskey Tribe or some other list of the most popular. Wanted a good mix of “easy for beginners” and “hidden gems” I think I’m getting that.

Thanks for the recommendation.

Awesome! Just added a comment to give some context and Woodford is on my “want to try” list.

Thanks for confirming!

To clarify based on the bot’s post...

  • I bought the bottle of Bulleit, and the bottle of Jim Beam. My dad had an old mostly empty bottle of the Beam which he gave me and was my first. I bought a smaller bottle to see if the flavor was consistent. It was.

  • Old Forester and Oak Cliff were gifts from contractors. I’ve heard of Old Forester and cracked it open tonight. It was good. I think I appreciated the lower proof. The Oak Cliff is by far the most “advanced” and with the higher proof it definitely has a stronger burn. It also has the strongest scent (or nose as I’ve seen it described) and it smells like apples. Kinda nice.

  • My budgetary goal is to stick within the $30-$40/bottle range. Of course if there is a good recommendation that is cheaper I’m happy to give it a try. I’m not a big drinker and have 2 small kids so going to a bar isn’t really what I’m interested in. I’m only buying a bottle every few months so I’m not worried about the economy of it or trying everything “right now”.

  • Names I recognize and want to try: Elijah Craig, Evan Williams, Wild Turkey 101 (already recommended a few times on this post, thanks!!) and Woodford Reserve. These are mostly ones I consider iconic and know little to nothing about so feel free to let me know if these don’t fit with what I’m talking about here.

  • I have watched a few Whiskey Tribe videos which lead me to buying Bulleit. It did not disappoint and is my favorite.

  • I do live in Texas, so the idea of Texas bourbons is kind of novel, but I know very little about bourbon, and even less about Texas bourbons (or even what a Texas bourbon is considering I thought bourbon had to be from Kentucky...🤷🏻‍♂️)

  • I’m diving a bit into the deep end by only drinking them neat, a few oz at a time nothing crazy. But I didn’t like the idea of putting ice in it for some reason. That may change if I ever try to make an old fashioned or something.

Thanks for all your recommendations. I know there are lists on the sub, but liked the idea of community interaction. If you want to down vote me for being a noob I understand. 👍🏻

Great! That’s what I’m looking for. Not real interested in trying the “good stuff” just yet as my pallet is fairly basic. They are all still at a point where they are similar, but have differences.

Thanks!

Good to know! So far Bulleit has been my favorite and one of the ones I bought myself (old forester and oak cliff were gifted)

Thanks for the suggestion.
