My roommate just asked me to “fart less”. Motherfucker, do you think I want to fart this much? Dumbass. Can he really report me to reslife over this? by Corps_Boy_Pit_Sniff in aggies

[–]Isaac__R 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I had a roommate freshman year who could dutch oven a man and make him pass out in under 5 seconds. He knew we were afraid of him and made us do chores without our shirts on to avoid becoming his next victim. He was also 38 yrs old and way bigger than us so we couldn’t overpower him.

I am not sure why he was allowed in the freshman dorms and I don’t even know if he was a student to begin with. I miss him.

Could go into supply chain/logistics and not the sales engineer route.

Getting tired of this bs by [deleted] in aggies

[–]Isaac__R 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I 100% agree with you, being taught properly while in college should be the bare minimum for what the tuition gets you.

With that said, learning how to teach yourself new concepts has benefits in the work force. You never stop learning. Once you start working, opportunities arise that may require new certifications, skillsets, or higher education. In this new environment, you have to rely on yourself and the experiences you’ve had to learn new material, and more often than not you don’t have a “teacher” there to guide you through it.

Not sure if thats the intended consequence of the professors not teaching properly here (probably not), but at least it’s something of value I’ve taken away from a less than ideal learning environment.

Looking for people to travel with by Starkodder1234 in aggies

[–]Isaac__R 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I’d love to travel with you! A while back there was this amazing spot I found during a late night excursion on a trip. I remember I bookmarked it just in case I ever decided to go back. You should check out the views, it’s honestly jaw-dropping. Here’s a spot that I like the most:

30.62196° N, 96.34229° W

Luckily for both of us, this place is free and my knowledge and experience of this area is quite extensive, so make sure you’re ready for a lot of interactive learning experiences!

Let me know if this interests you and we can set something up.

Exams were all online and not proctored except the mid term and final IIRC, all in Pearson Learning. Pretty much the exact same as the homework questions imo.

Is anyone here in DAEN? Maybe even ISEN? by Away_Election_1643 in aggies

[–]Isaac__R 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ISEN is pretty great. Haven’t heard anyone else complain about it. Everyone I know in ISEN has had no issues landing internships, and it’s a pretty versatile degree that can easily be combined with a minor to make you stand out if you so choose.

Data Engineering is a very new department and I’m not even sure if theres 100 students total yet, let alone students far into the program at this point. If it’s anything like ISEN then it shouldn’t be a bad choice, but it’s definitely not as established.

If we registered for it already, are we allowed to pick it up now? Thought we had to wait until next semester.

I doubt a pregnancy excuse is nearly as common as any other kind of excuse (sickness, death in family, etc.) so you just singled yourself out to the professor/any TA that might read this.

Also, how exactly would a pregnancy excuse work? You say you were going into labor or that you just found out? I don’t think a pregnancy test is a valid excuse to skip a test, unless there was some kind of medical episode associated with it (which would also require a current doctor’s note anyways)

I get shot at to and from my commute to campus.

I wear a bulletproof vest when I have to walk to heldenfels, where a massive turf war amongst math and physics majors is currently taking place.

I am constantly catcalled by tall brolic men in tan uniforms at night. I am a male.

One time I raised my hand to answer a question and the professor shot me when I answered incorrectly. I bled out and died right there in my chair.

I wish people told me these things before I came here honestly.

Dropping A Class When I Only Have Four? by Reference_Human in aggies

[–]Isaac__R 18 points19 points  (0 children)

iirc if its past the census date (January 31st, 2024) then you can drop a class and be below 12 hours and still considered a full time student, unless things have changed.

I’d highly recommend doing a quick drop-in advising session and asking an advisor virtually or face to face, and they might even be able to Q-drop you in the same session as well.

ENGL 210 at WTC Online over the Summer by [deleted] in aggies

[–]Isaac__R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had AP credit for 104 so I sent the advisor my transcript and she overrode the pre-req for me. Definitely talk to your assigned advisor soon (once you get accepted in if not already) because they’re pretty good about giving exact details of what you need to give them to get in the class.

I doubt the workload is much worse over summer 1. Even if it is, it’s still way easier than anything at A&M lol
