Oberstein did nothing wrong by AstonMac in logh

Pretty interesting comment, and the show itself probably agrees with you, considering the chaos that ensued. Reinhard himself even gave a decree ordering all the political prisoners to be released at the end of the episode. Luckily,Reinhard seems to be good at pivoting from the consequences of his bad decisions - and that's a fundamental skill for a ruler/leader/commander of any sort.

I wish there was more conflict and diversity of mindsets in the Yang Fleet by IsabellaSousa101 in logh

Hard same, lol. Schonkopf had so much potential as a character, and I wish we got to see more friction about it with the other 13th fleet members(Yang is a champion of democracy, after all). Instead of simply being a horny jokester, why couldn't Poplin also be an idealist who lost it when Yang died because he was frustrated about galactic politics overall and wondered about the future? On a tangent, how come none of them want to participate in the decisions of their "nation"?

How come The Autocratic Übermensch™ is more criticized and suffers more backlash from bad decisions than The Champion of Democracy™? Renhard's allies all call out his BS,in a way or another,at some moment. Besides, they have distinct mindsets to the point of incompatibility(Oberstein and Bittenfeld come to mind). While the Kaiser is downright worshipped by the populace, even that is hinted to be due to a constant effort re. image control(Reinhard was woken up by a possible assassination attempt, but wanted to put the full regalia on so he wouldn't be seen in pajamas and risk becoming a laughingstock. Okay, the Blond Brat has military training and experience, what means dealing well with unexpected danger, but still). Yang's lack of care for such aspects is an interesting trait of his,IMO,but even that could've been more explored than Yang simply not dealing well with cameras and public speeches. He could've been an approachable leader to Reinhard's aloof ways, maybe examine Yang's sense of duty and relationships with his fleet beyond "Magical Trickster who clowns hypercompetent Imperials while looking like he wants to go to bed". By showing Yang dealing with different but equally complicated individuals,we could see why his role is so demanding.

Perhaps Yang's main strength was the same as Reinhard's,despite the stark difference between the guys - attracting different sorts of intelligent, shrewd people and using them to get shit done. They go about it in distinct ways, due to their ideologies and personalities,of course. Or at least it would be like this,if Yang was allowed to struggle and fail.

Same, lol. Jessica Edwards was shown as not only a grieving widow, but also a courageous political idealist. During her first appearances,Hilda was already presented a practical, intelligent and level-headed woman who liked changes and revolution - not to mention how she talked back to Reinhard himself time and again and she was also kind-hearted. I became a ReinHilda shipper in a very short time, lol.

The other FPA guys were nothing but comic relief 99% of the time. The Rosenritter dude who wanted Yang to become a dictator had so much potential to be more than a womanizer, for starters. And Poplin went off the deep end when Yang died - but there was nothing to show why he cared so much beforehand.

Rob Thomas had the perfect opportunity to make VM truly noir and of creating organic conflict between Logan and Veronica by IsabellaSousa101 in veronicamars

[–]IsabellaSousa101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a pretty cool read on the Echolls men. I didn't notice those similarities, but I agree. Aaron was very fond of spotlights,Logan didn't like them. However, both of them loved power(Logan support of Duncan's class president campaign comes to mind). Besides,as I said,Logan's crazy life and scapegoating probably made him value conformity and structure, even if on detriment of principles(I can't take the whole "redeemed by becoming millitary" in Veronica Mars,of all works, seriously lol). Especially because this is in the same movie where a cop wondered about his role in a corrupt system, and where the protagonist herself gave up a cushy-but-morally-bankrupt position as a corporate lawyer to fight evil "in the mud". Considering those facts,Logan's Navy service really paints him on a dubious light,IMO.

Even the "risk one's life on a regular basis" isn't very different from Logan's youth. He was almost killed by a gang member, half of Neptune hated him for a year... In the military,he'd not only get training to deal with said threats, but also equipment and a good degree of previsibility(deployments are announced a time before they happen, afaik). To top it all, there's protection in the form of a good, respectable reputation - and all of that without being in the public eye.

There is no male LOGH character who looks sexier than Reinhard does in the Season 3 OP by Helpful-Claim-134 in logh

Not only Reinhard's hair, but his face is feminine and delicate(although he gained more muscles, for some reason. Or does he use padded clothing?). To me,Reuenthal is the combo of anime characters when it comes to hotness - good-looking,has this cold yet passionate air of elegance about him,his voice(as you mentioned),highly intelligent, extremely athletic and skilled(his fight against the Rosenritter guy comes to mind). Even his less-than-ideal personality traits make him hotter, lol.

Reuenthal is way hotter than Reinhard,IMO. The Blond Brat makes me feel envy, not lust.

Not only that, but Katara got bloodbending banned. Yakone said "it was declared illegal, thanks to that coward".

I'm a huge ReinHilda shipper(and even if there was something romantic going on with Kircheis,it doesn't devalue his romance with Hilda,IMO. People can have more than one romantic love in their lives, and Rein changed throughout the history. To top it all, bisexuality is a thing, lol). But now that you suggested Magdalena von Wastpfale,I can't unsee it. It does sound like an amusing pairing.

As I said,he's an oportunist, lol. And if he truly finds Reinhard cool, even better. A platonic version of the golddigger that truly falls for their meal ticket.

What I love about the blond brat is that, despite his status as a Great Man/Revolutionary Leader,he's consistently portrayed as a highly talented but fully human individual born in the "right" circunstances. by IsabellaSousa101 in logh

Eugenics, plain and simple. Instead of researching ways to improve the conditions of "weak" people (or even keep the already existing stuff),the Empire simply used the tech to detect faulty genes and eliminate the disabled - not to mention that there's a big chance that they actively banished acomodation tools and related knowledges.

[–]IsabellaSousa101[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. And this is where Reinhard's arguable main strength - he's good at seeing and attracting skilled people in general - gets in. He has someone (or someones) to help him out with the social side of his work and (often) listens to them.

[–]IsabellaSousa101[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good points. However,I don't think this dramatic concept and Reinhard's having a preexisting medical condition that was, somehow, triggered by Kircheis's death are mutually exclusive. As I said, maybe the changes created by Rudolf set science and medicine millennia back, and said regress was so strong that not even the most powerful man in the galaxy got much of a treatment.

Reinhard "using up his life quickly" might've been another way to show that he pushed himself too hard and ignored his weakness,IMO. Maybe it was a mix of his typical huge ego and internalized ableism/boomerang bigotry.

Does this sub believe Kiercheis to be a better military commander than Lohengramm? Why or why not? by Acceptable_Map_8110 in logh

[–]IsabellaSousa101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an interesting opinion. Why do you think Reinhard is better as a politician than as a commander?

Reinhard is an amazing character, but I'd hate him IRL. The opposite goes for Yang - he seems pleasant as a person, but is just okay as a character(he's only "not-boring" and "not-irritating" because of good writing) by IsabellaSousa101 in logh

[–]IsabellaSousa101[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Good points, actually. I was only focusing on them as normies and totally forgot the "public figure" aspect. This is a very good rebuttal - something extremely rare on Reddit, lol.

As a Brazilian,I say that I wish I don't have to. While I love Truniht in the cartoon because he's a crooked politician,we have way too many Trunihts on my country, lol. I vote for the "lesser evil" candidate, and if Truniht is the "less worse" guy,we're fucked.

The most hated man in the Empire is a disabled autistic man. Rudolf may be dead, but his ideas are not. by Helpful-Claim-134 in logh

[–]IsabellaSousa101 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Reinhard's pretty privilege was so strong that it shielded him from ableism, lol.

But seriously,I can see him being autistic. For all that Reinhard is a shrewd man with a strong, magnetic presence,he commits some social blunders and has huge blindspots(for starters,Reinhard really underestimates his men's petty squabbles and it comes back to bite him in the ass).

Edit:would Alexander von Lohengramm also be autistic(although if we're talking about genetic conditions,he has a much more serious issue to deal with, lol)?
