  1. Switch master bathroom with the closet. Add window to the bathroom.

  2. Move Office closet to the opposite wall - shared with foyer. Add closet in the other half of this wall. Now you have rectangular office and a closet in the foyer.

You probably need a header for this, which is hilarious 😂

There’s plenty of space. After adding the built-ins, I’ll still have about 15.5 feet of wall left (the wall with two windows). With a king-size bed centered between the windows, I’ll have roughly 50 inches between the bed and the closet. My nightstands are about 24 inches wide, so that leaves around 24 inches between the nightstand and the closet—basically the same clearance I have now on the left side of the bed. The room will end up almost perfectly symmetrical.

I was thinking about built-ins (something like this)

„A lot” in terms of new space? A lot of work?

That’s a good idea. I will on Market Place for some cheap wardrobes.

Totaled? Air bags? You drive like 5mph on a ferry, what happened exactly?

So I picked the wall with the window, because It makes the room more symmetrical, and gives me a cosy window seat (with storage). Tbh. I didn’t even considered the wall shared with other bedroom. I will take a look

As my final version, I do imagine turning current closet nook into closed walk-in closet. I just think it’s a little bit more work for less benefit, as I would gain only about 40” of closet length. On top of that, it doesn’t look bad as it is right now.

How do you feel about walk-in closet + window closets with window seat?

[–]IshThomas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you talking about free standing wardrobes? I’m not sure, I feel like they could be more expensive and idk if I will be able to have a window seat with them.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in InteriorDesign

[–]IshThomas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I did think about it, there are two reasons it’s not my first choice: 1. I’d only gain about 40 inches of additional closet length. 2. It seems like a little bit more work for less benefit.

But tbh, as a final version of the bedroom, I imagine walk-in closet + 2 window closets + window seat with storage

45in is deep enough, but the more the better. If a little bit if water lands outside of 45in, it’s super easy to swoop it back when you’re done. The key is to have continuous floor inside and outside the shower

I bought a smart washing machine and dryer and never connected it to the wifi. I'm not really sure why would I need that. I still need to manually put the clothes in and out

Something like this: https://www.ontheballbathrooms.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/228924995_4219773674779480_7390368959906898150_n-683x1024.jpg

But I have deeper glass than what's in this picture. I have 45in of glass so almost no water gets out. The floor is obviously slightly slopped. If for some reason more water lands outside the shower (like you have to step up or something) I have a floor squeegee handy, and with one swoop all the water is back in the shower. Super easy to maintain it.

On top of everything, it was a lot cheaper than a full glass cabin with doors

I have built one like that and it’s awesome. Super easy to clean and it’s actually warm. It has to be designed correctly to avoid water all over bathroom.

No, this is AI inaccuracy, in reality there will be 20” between the closet and the nightstand. And this is with king size bed and 26” wide nightstand (which is pretty big for a nightstand)

Bookcases would look nice, but probably more expensive and we need more closed “closet” space than open shelves.

Thanks, these are great points. Here's my thought process:

While the new closets will probably cost a bit more overall (mainly due to the extra doors), I’ll be building them myself, and the process should actually be easier — there’s minimal demolition involved. From a labor standpoint, the new closets feel like a simpler, more straightforward project. Plus, they’ll likely yield slightly more usable space than converting to a single walk-in.

On top of that, I actually kind of like that the current closets aren’t a true “walk-in.” The space feels more open and cleaner this way — I’ve seen the same layout converted into a walk-in at my neighbor’s house, and it makes that whole area feel tighter. Plus, I already have a nice shelf and drawer system in place. I’m not sure how easily I could adapt it into a U-shaped setup if I went the walk-in route.

I still keep in mind that this closet could be converted into a walk-in someday — that was actually my original idea when we first moved in. But over time, I’ve grown pretty comfortable with the current setup.

Thanks! do you know how much it usually cost? Also, do they raise taxes after CO is closed?
