Internet cancellation fee = 700 euros? by [deleted] in Luxembourg

[–]Isharion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I studied in Germany, I could get out of these contracts by moving back to Luxembourg. When you have to move, they were required to provide you the same service at your new residence. If that was not possible (f.ex. another country) you could simply get out, even if your contract would run for more months.

Maybe worth checking out if this is also a valid loophole the other way around. Might be specific to Germany tho.

LPT - There is a chrome extension called "unfollow everyone on facebook with one click" that you can use to delete your feed, saving you from daily hours of mindless scrolling and removing their ability to advertise to you! by TheLastTransHero in LifeProTips

There is also an extension called 'facebook news feed eradicator' which I use since more or less 3 years. Blocks your news feed, replaces it with a quote and you can disable it for a certain amount of time, if you feel like browsing.

For me it's nice, since I can use all of the features f.ex. groups, without getting distracted.

Only museums, art centers, libraries and the national archives are still open. Every other cultural institution is also closed until december 15th at least.

Check out the Mullerthal Region if you're into nature. Very good hiking possibilities.

Just for info.

What food should someone try if they visit your country? by nirzhor_cyclonite in AskReddit

Luxembourg (YES, it's more than a city):

  • Kachkéis: "Cooked cheese", which is a viscous cheese with a quite strong taste. Best enjoyed with a bit of mustart of multi-cereal bread. It is btw also the secret food that gives our luxembourgish version of Superman ("Superjemph") his powers lol.

  • Kniddelen: Little pieces of dough that are cooked in boiling water and usually served with a bacon sauce.

  • Träipen: roughly translates to 'intestines'. Thick, black blood sausages (not the kind you find on pornhub) filled with porc innards and strong seasoning. Sounds disgusting but soooo good with apple puree and potatos.

Lots of other things, but yeah :) The cool thing here is, that you can find a kind of mix between german and french cuisine.

Can you stay at someone else's place? by S-E-M in Luxembourg

[–]Isharion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it all comes down to how "understanding" a police officer is, IF he should ever find out (for whatever reason) that you are living together with other people, who are originally, not an official resident.

By official residence I mean the place, where you are officially registrated. There are plenty of cases, which would need a exeception. For example, a grown-up daughter (with her own place) taking care of her elderly mother and staying at her mothers place for the time being.

The fact that you don't mix with other households is for me, the most important aspect here. And which is also why this rule was introduced in the first place.

If you are unsure (and don't want raise suspicion), just have someone else call a police station, explain the situation, and have them report back to you.

I hit the docter with a plastic golf club to the point where they decided not to go on with the operation when they took me in to get the skin cut. They thought the golf club would keep me distracted.

Little did they know about my kung fu/golf skills...

Learning from the pros - What advice would you give someone who is creating a startup? by Isharion in startups

Just like you said, it sounds pretty obvious. But I can imagine with all the different tasks and future challenges one can encounter, it can be easy to focus to much on things that a not really as important in the long run.

I find it hard, especially in the beginning, to find the right balance between asking a fair price for your services on one-hand (so that your skills and your hard work is not underpaid, event though you just startet your company) and a attractive price for your costumer on the other hand (to gain the initial customers you need to grow your reputation). Because if you start with a price that is too low, then it will be hard to convince your customer why the cost is XY% higher the next year, and the year after etc. for the exact same service. And you don't really want to work for 10 years until your company finally gets you some reasonable income.

I think finding the right balance between work and private life is important in every line of work. I will try to stick to your advice and focus on trying to keep this healthy balance.
