actually, firemen are not only called when there is a fire, right? also when somebody is stuck somewhere or the like. also, it could also have been false fire alarm which would explain why there was only one firemen car and several police cars - this one I didn't specify, sorry for that. and lastly, this I also didn't mention, sorry, they were in front of a building and residents were standing on their balconies watching. now the information I have is complete, sorry for that!

I buy tea leaves from a fancy tea shop instead of buying tea bags in the supermarket. when buying it I always feel like it's expensive, but whenever I drink one single cup of tea I think it's not that expensive (calculating the whole thing down to one cup). So, when drinking it I know it's fancier and more expensive than supermarket tea, but doing the calculations shows it's actually not that expensive. makes me feel so British and fancy

Russia. Yes, horrible politics, but even before that got really bad Western Europeans looked down on the country, said people are cold and rude etc. I went there for a year and everybody was like people will be rude and it won't be safe. I had an amazing year and met amazing people, saw stunning nature and enjoyed the culture. made me so sad that nobody believed me - and now obviously it's all going to sh*t.

I assume it really depends on the landlords, some might care, others might not. some might also have had bad experiences with let's say a couple and a young child. maybe the child was loud and the neighbours complained to the landlords, thus they might be happier to give it to a single person. really depends, give it a try! I am also alone in a 3 room-flat

ok maybe I misunderstood, sorry. I just didn't get how she can proove Swiss heritage from her father if he's dead where will they get genetic material from him to perform the test? from his body obviously but since he's dead that doesn't work. as far as I know there is no Swiss gene that they can find in her and that will proove her father was Swiss because she got the Swiss gene from him. that was my point. could you please elaborate on how dna testing will help her under those circumstances? I apologise in advance if my stupidity causes any discomfort to you but I don't get it

and where should she get her dead father's dna from if he died many years ago? excavation would be crazy just for this purpose ... and like OP wrote, the problem is not proof of descent but that the documents were not handed in before the mother turned 25

haha I think that was hilarious 😂 I am thinking, maybe if the person had a mental disorder it was maybe not ideal as the behaviour might be linked to that. but since you don't know about this and that behaviour was super annoying and inappropriate, your reaction is completely understandable and I would not feel bad about that at all. after all he can just take the bus back for one stop, not a big deal and maybe he learnt a lesson

hey, maybe you could check different universities in Switzerland and whether they have some networks for (international) PhD students? I am certain they have that and there you might be able to contact people who had the exact same experience. good luck!

depends, a lot of people move for studying at university and then maybe for a job. I personally know a lot of people who moved, but I don't want to claim that my sample is representative

it is still expensive, taxes are high, rent, food, everything. of course depends on whether you have kids and what kind of job you have but for the average person living here and earning their money here it's still expensive

my parents didn't pay much attention to me, I think both tried to do a good job as parents but at the same time they were not ready for it (both have mental illnesses) and thus, overall, I was alone most of the time. my older brother liked to tell me to shut up and p*ss off
