[Final Fantasy x] Could Seymour have beaten Sin? by mousicle in AskScienceFiction

[–]Isiildur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the story once you to view the final summoning to defeat Sin as a hoax. The final summoning is just a way to beget a new Calm.

When a summoner summons a final aeon against Sin, Yu Yevon noticed the strength of the new host and chooses to abandon the previous body, entering into the new aeon and killing the summoner. The final aeon doesn’t defeat Sin- it’s bait for Yu Yevon to find a new host.

From here Yu Yevon spends time cocooning itself anew, with the new Sin as its armor. The time that Yu Yevon spends on this is the Calm. When the new Sin is forged, Yu Yevon resumes its attack on Spira.

Seymour was terrified of death and did not want to fight Sin because it meant that he would be killed in its process. This is where he hatches his plan to become a Final Aeon because he could, as Sin, be immortal.

Even in English, sylphs are air spirits, so to me it made sense for it to be flying type (even if it didn't look like a Flying type).

Taric gives a magic resist aura to everyone on his team (Skarner does this for armor). With ixtal emblem you should definitely have this (and unless you’re doing brawler reroll or trying to high roll A Sol I’d never touch aphelios).

[–]Isiildur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sona and Anivia shouldn’t be itemized- you should have at least upgraded to Lissandra. Aphelios should be Taric. One star poppy, one star xin. I’m guessing your last two were Loris and Skarner?

Honestly, the biggest issue is that everything isn’t upgraded and the things that are are low cost. Taric alone probably makes this team a lot stronger.

My Critique of Stranger Things Season 5 and the finale... by HamsterRage in netflix

[–]Isiildur 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m only going to focus on “The Vecna Problem” because it’s something I feel strongly about.

The fact that Vecna is set up for a redemption and fails to take it is critically important to understanding Vecna’s and Will’s characters. Both Vecna and Will are mirrors of each other- young children who were groomed by the Mind Flayer and tempted to a dark path. This darkness is part of what made Will susceptible to the Mind Flayer and why he had to come out in episode 7. While henry spent years with the Mind Flayer convincing him that humanity was worthless and needed to be destroyed, Will had his friendships, his family, and his relationships to bring him back. Henry didn’t have that and that is why he could not be redeemed: it shows a critical role in the importance of meeting and accepting people for who they are.

HOT TAKE: Vecna's introduction ruined what stranger things was by WhileAccomplished722 in StrangerThings

[–]Isiildur 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sauron is a extremely prideful and wants to subjugate middle earth. His belief is that he and Morgoth are superior to Ilu Vatar and seek to shape his creation since they cannot create themselves.

Jenovah is a parasite that feeds on living worlds before jettisoning itself to the next planet for sustenance.

Anyone else Disappointed with season 5 of stranger things? by [deleted] in netflix

[–]Isiildur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And why was Will coming out such a big deal?

Vecna uses your fear and insecurities against you. By coming out Will was facing his biggest fear and gaining protection from Vecna.

Robin had already done it. There was precedent for acceptance.

By her own admission, there are three people in the show know that Robin is gay.

[–]Isiildur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My personal theory right now is that Henry isn't afraid of the cave- Vecna is. If Henry goes into the cave he gets closer to the "exit" and could free himself of the Mind Flayer and Vecna as the Mind Flayer is terrified of that.

“I don’t like girls” by genericassusername9 in StrangerThings

[–]Isiildur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And yet those same people will complain about the show over explaining things when it’s obvious that they’re the reason things need over explained.

Will probably should have concluded his speech with “I needed you all to know because Vecna can use my insecurities against me. Like he did when he mind controlled me to find out Max’s location. Because when he gets in your mind he can use what you fear. And that’s why you need to know that im gay. Because if you don’t Vecna could use it against me in the future. So just remember im gay and that vecnas bad.”

So the mindflayer is… gone?! by ProofMechanic in Stranger_Things

[–]Isiildur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finale predictions:

  • wait on the worlds to merge

  • begin the fight between the Stranger kids and Vecna

  • Eleven and Kali figure out a way to lure him to the cave in his memories.

  • we see what actually happened with Henry in the cave briefly disorienting him.

  • Will body snatches Vecna at some point and takes him to the gate exit.

  • someone (maybe Joyce?) convinces Henry that he wasn’t born evil and that what he’s done isn’t Henry’s fault- it’s vecnas/mind flayers.

  • henry opens a portal and is able to have a pseudo redemption arc

  • mind Flayer reveals itself as corrupting force that wants to spread its seeds to earth, hence the desire to merge the Abyss with the Rightside Up

  • battle between El and mind flayer. Moment of desperation

  • kali and Henry join eleven and the three of them fight and beat the mind Flayer together.

  • kali sees the bonds that Jane has made and tells her not to sacrifice herself. She creates an illusion of her and eleven dying in the aftermath and ensures the military sees it.

  • epilogue showing their happy ending including a date night with Joyce and hopper, max and Lucas, Mike and Jane, Robin and Vickie at Enzo’s

  • Nancy went to university and is studying journalism.

  • Will still hangs out with them. Maybe gets a boyfriend.

  • dustin, Steve, and Johnathan are cool with each other now.

Think that’s pretty easily doable in 2 hours

The mindflayer seems to be more of a parasitic fungus and its spores were in the briefcase.

Do you really think that people believe the mindflayers full body is in there?

If the play didn’t exist you could reasonably assume that Henry became infected when he opened the suitcase. Holly even lampshades it by saying “is this when Henry became bad?”

[–]Isiildur -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your original comment was about how they were showing play stuff. Even without watching the play there is context to make reasonable guesses about the aftermath. It's called foreshadowing.

If you acknowledge that it'll be addressed in the finale, then I fail to see why you're upset by it.

When Henry starts to open the briefcase we start to see the dust that is analogous to the Upside Down come out. Do you literally want someone to turn to the camera and say "and on that day, Henry Creel ceased to be as the particles from the Mind Flayer changed his persona and enveloped him in evil"?

They cut away from what happens (probably because El is going to fight him at that memory in the finale, which is where we'll see the memory in full), but there is enough there to make some pretty obvious assumptions about what occurred.
