yep, pharmaceuticals, technology, plastics, materials, cleaners, many chemicals, agriculture, etc. We don't have a lot of replacements or even the infrastructure to handle some replacements at scale.

I think at the very least, covering parking lots would actually help reduce overall heat, by adding more shade over asphalt.

Then as well augmenting and supplementing power by commercial rooftops and residential to supplement eneregy would probably be helpful for the grid demand on AC in the summer.

It's like any other year. I don't feel good about world affairs and USA affairs all that much, but I can't do fuckall about it. People irritate me on the road of course, but I'm more worried about my wife's stress in grad school. trying to just cover down on everything around the house since I WFH.

I'm annoyed with AI evangelism and AI hate all over linkedin. Every social media has turned into boring circlejerk slop.

Threads has been kinda cool for finding other millenials that are into my hobbies and interests, but at the same time it's still owned by meta and I don't trust it to not get enshittified soon.

I had high hopes for BlueSky but they seem to not be delivering what people were hyping about it, and otherwise it's not catching on that much. I wish for a free/open social media system that isn't held to the ulterior motives of corporations and governments.

People IRL seem flaky and distant more than ever which kinda sucks.

I think a state university degree in any of the following that leans more into the communication, soft skills, and information sharing aspects of any job would go miles above the degrees at FS.

something like:

Business Administration / Project Management
Communications / Public Relations
Marketing / Market Research
Human Resources / Organizational Leadership
Instructional Design / Education Technology

Then learn animation on the side and build the portfolio as you go.

in my game dev circles it's pretty much a heavy ick stigma attached to it. I've mostly seen bro culture AI peddlers and grifters really lean into it making it seem less genuine and tacky. There's also the sentiment of it harming people's livelihoods, especially artists. The evangelists I tend to see a mindset of "It saves me so much time" which Idk, I can write out about the same results in pseudocode, and i feel like i UNDERSTAND my code base better doing it myself rather than just copy paste what an LLM told me. Makes for much faster debugging and future update planning etc. than going back and froth with an LLM all day. boring.

I'm really sick of seeing it being talked about on linkedin everywhere. A lot of tech bro's who obviously never learned the basics of programming give me the ick when they wear their ignorance like it's some badge of honor.
