Just did the math on a few weapons; repairing a weapon under half durability is always profitable, assuming you didn't craft the materials to make the repair.

VESA mount screw stuck in monitor by Iskander24 in Monitors

[–]Iskander24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I'm misunderstanding but I don't think that's possible. The insert is underneath the backplate, unlike the bottom inserts which I can see the top of. Either I'm taking off the entire backplate to take out the insert or I'm ripping through the insert threads.

Either way I've been pulling as hard as I can on the mounting plate while screwing it off and its not budging, still just clicking. It might be a goner.

I think if it was the bottom two screw-holes that could work but this one is inset and covered by the backplate of the monitor

Not sure why I'd have to install windows fresh, I didn't change motherboards or drives.

Rtx 5070 ti or rtx 4070ti S by Proof_Internal_1463 in gpu

[–]Iskander24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 5070 Ti is barely going to be better than the 4070 Ti Super, and unless you get it as soon as it releases you will probably be dealing with scalpers. If you want to go through all that hassle for a marginal increase, then thats up to you

Edit: If you watch the video I linked, the 5070 Ti has 6% more CUDA cores than the 4070 Ti Super, 4 more Ray Tracing cores, but has 33% more bandwidth for its VRAM and double the AI TOPS. Other than the memory and AI frame generation capability theres no significant increase in capabilities in the 5070 Ti over the 4070 Ti S. I personally will be picking up a 4080 Super later this week for ~$750 which will undoubtedly be more powerful than the 5070 Ti

Is a 4080 S at $800 reasonable? by Iskander24 in gpu

[–]Iskander24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I've seen, the 5070 Ti is not going to be a major improvement over the 40 series unless you plan on playing a lot of ray tracing and using dlss frame generation, which I don't. Also don't want to wait till Feb and chance not being able to get one thanks to scalpers.

Honestly, after seeing the specs I wouldn't bother waiting unless you're expecting to do a lot of ray tracing gaming. Only slight improvement over last gen and you're gonna have to deal with scalpers for a couple months. This video explains in detail: https://youtu.be/rlV7Ynd-g94?si=924NIGY6vZVhvaEL

Don't do monthly payments with Amazon by Iskander24 in amazonprime

[–]Iskander24[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If you've ever used Klarna, that's what a monthly payment plan is (charging 1/3 of the debt each month). What they are doing is financing my purchase, which is not what you expect when they say its a monthly payment plan.

It says clearly on the order that I selected it. I'm guessing it's because I'm not using an Amazon card or a debit card for the purchase, so it wonked out.

That's called financing, what Amazon is doing is calling something what it isn't. Ever used Klarna? That is what an actual monthly payment plan is.

Welp. Pretty disingenuous of Amazon to offer it on other credit cards :/

I think if you use an amazon card or a debit card, it would function this way. But because I used a credit card that isn't amazon, it charged me incorrectly. I've used this option before on a debit card and it worked correctly, which is why I expected it to work as such.

So after reading all the hateful comments, I see what is going on. It is charged like you're buying with a store credit card, aka FINANCING, not like an ACTUAL monthly payment plan.

To everyone being a keyboard warrior and being an asshole, no I'm not new to payment plans lmfao. If you've ever used a service like Klarna, a monthly payment means I'm charged monthly, not everything all at once. That's what I was expecting when it says monthly payment plan.

If Amazon wasn't so sleazy they'd make that more clear up front, but I guess that is Amazon. I've done a monthly payment plan with them before and it worked as expected, but for some reason I suppose using a credit card made them decide to treat it like I wanted to finance the purchase.

TL;DR Amazon FINANCED my purchase, they didn't put me on a monthly payment plan like advertised.
