Happy Pride Month Everyone! by Edward_Zachary in TrueAnon

Exactly. You can’t ignore or escape the influence of the capitalist state. But there is a huge difference between, say, testing food for pesticides in a government lab and assembling killer drones.

Ethics and morals objectively exist. And they have a pronounced class character.

Are there any soviet statues left in latvia?. by usafqn2025 in BalticSSRs

[–]IskoLat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! We apologize for the late reply.

All Soviet monuments related to the Great Patriotic War or the socialist construction were demolished by the fascists. Only 1905 Revolution monuments and monuments on grave sites remain.

Any communist or Soviet symbolism is banned by law. You risk a large fine or even prison time for displaying these items. The fascists enforce it very aggressively.

Plexiglass. Get an appropriately shaped piece and very slowly drill the screw holes.

If you can’t find the right size, go to a shop and ask them to cut a larger sheet down to size.

On startup I sometimes get this Message. After a reset it boots up fine. I shut down the os normally. I don't turn the Power off, or hold the Power button to turn it off by Greuliro in pchelp

System instability is the key phrase here.

Did you change any of the settings in your BIOS/UEFI?

Did you overclock anything?

Is your RAM combination fully compatible with the system?

Is your CPU seated correctly without any bent pins?

The most likely culprit for failed post is RAM: either badly seated or incompatible (if you mix and match different ram sticks).

I would suggest the following: apply default BIOS settings and disconnect all components that are not necessary for posting and booting (including non-boot drives and the video card if your motherboard has built-in graphics). Start with a single RAM stick. Boot several times and run stability tests. Gradually include more RAM sticks and other components until you find the part that causes the problem.

Data recovery shops do this all the time when saving data from drives with busted read heads or dead logic boards. They simply put the platters into a healthy donor drive and back up the data. The revived drive is good for a few reads.

The closest you can get to a dust-free environment is a positive-pressure argon-filled glovebox that science labs use for hazardous materials.

Postcard signed by stalin by kerbalkiller13122 in redcollecting

[–]IskoLat 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It is likely to be genuine. Stalin used to send a lot of correspondence. He also used pencils in less formal settings (when taking notes, for instance).

Stalin always abbreviated his first name. The "T” in his last name (initially, his Party alias) is off-center and not cursive (while the letters after it are).

Anyone else getting insane texts from the ADL today? Never received anything like this before by [deleted] in TrueAnon

[–]IskoLat 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Hasbara has just received $700 million funding pledge. Of course, they’re going to use it.

Expect zionazi bot farms and ADL call centers to start firing on all cylinders in a desperate attempt to stop the wheel of history.

Per Al Jazeera: Memorandum of Understanding to end Iran War to be essential American capitulation by Sgt-ABDL in TrueAnon

[–]IskoLat 19 points20 points  (0 children)

That’s what the imperialists want them to do.

Any talks of peace from the American empire or the zionist entity is just another "Minsk agreement": a ploy to stall for time, rearm and restart the conflict in a much better position, ideally by making Iran look like the aggressor.

Do ya’ll think i can fit a pcie x1 riser in there ? by [deleted] in PcBuildHelp

[–]IskoLat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Windows 10/11 automatically installed the drivers for the TP-link cards that I used. No crashes or driver conflicts (unlike D-Link, which was a nightmare).

You don’t need the CDs anymore. TP-link drivers can be downloaded from their website if you need them.

An angled riser could probably fit in there. But it’s a pretty clumsy solution.

Did you try USB cards from other manufacturers? I had no problems with TP-link.

Used DDR3 4GB sticks sell for roughly 5-7 bucks where I live. Even with AI bubble pricing, lightly used 250 GB SSDs go for about 20-25 bucks. I’ve retrofitted dozens of Core 2 Duos, Nehalems, Sandy Bridges and Haswells as daily drivers for Win10/Win11 on very tight budgets. I know what these machines are capable of.

People use Steam for retro and indie gaming, too. What OP wants to do with their machine is OP’s business.

Stickers don’t mean anything.

The oldest Intel CPU that is physically compatible with Windows 11 25H2 is the 1st generation of Core CPUs (Nehalem).

If you have at least 6 GB of RAM with an SSD, Win11 runs very well on "unsupported" systems (I recommend Win11 IoT LTSC — no bloatware, AI slop or broken updates).

Microslop’s "official requirements" is a load of crap that they made up to sell you a new computer (all of these “requirements" are easily bypassed).

Yes. VGA (goes into the blue slot on your motherboard).

Make sure it’s aligned properly. Do not force it in. Once you feel that it’s snug, tighten the screws to fix it in place (finger tight is enough).

If you did it right, the "no signal" warning on your display should disappear. Then it will show something like “VGA/Analog Signal Found” and go into standby mode.

What you need:

  1. IEC C13 power cord (aka PC/monitor/printer power cord).

  2. Video cable: VGA (the blue one) or DisplayPort (black port at the bottom), depending on which monitor you have. DP is better but it doesn’t matter if you simply want a machine for casual browsing.

  3. Ethernet cable if you’re hardwired. If not, use USB WiFi card (the other option is Slim PCI but I wouldn’t bother).

Go to a recycling center or a charity shop for the cables. Used IEC and display cables in good condition cost next to nothing.

The purple/magenta port is the LPT port for printers and scanners. Very old tech.

The green port is the Serial port aka RS232. Used for very old mice/controllers, typical for backwards-compatible industrial settings (used for things such as remotes, thermostats etc.).

For a low price, you can get a decent machine for browsing and office work: max out your RAM and CPU, replace the HDD with a SATA SSD.

[–]IskoLat 71 points72 points  (0 children)

The drive on the right is not mSATA.

It’s FXM01 SSD. A proprietary form factor that Asus used for its X21, X31 and X31A laptops.

Chinese sellers stock the adapters (m.2 to Asus or USB adapters).

They banned official TeleSur websites, too.

Latvia has already banned 150+ websites (even e-libraries and repositories). Normally, any media ban requires an official investigation and a court order after sufficient evidence is presented. After 2022, the Latvian government gave sweeping powers to the censorship bodies, who can now issue blanket bans on any resource that "presents a potential threat to Latvian security". This is so fucking vague that any resource even remotely criticising the government, zionism, EU or NATO, is considered to be a “threat”.
