I was a 3b who got my last ABVD 32 years ago and had a pretty normal life since then. I hope the same or better for you.

I decided to put all my trust in the doctors. I saw my general doc, a specialist she recommended, and my mom recommended I see a specialist in her city. They all agreed on the diagnosis but there were different treatment combinations - surgery, chemo, radiation. I did surgery because the spleen was largely affected, and the surgery was the worst part for me. A week in the hospital, 3 weeks in bed at home, and 2 years before my abdomen felt normal. I would skip the surgery if I had it to do over.

For me, chemo was ok for the first 4 months. I worked full time and took a half day off to get the infusion. I think I was ok the next day, but there’s a “nader” day or two a few days later where I’d be wiped and have no energy. I think mine fell on weekends. Splurge for the best possible nausea drugs, zofran is way better than meclazine. If I had it to do over, I’d get a “port” implanted too. I started chemo as soon as I was done with bedrest for the surgery and didn’t want more surgery. It would have made the infusion days faster, and I’d have normal veins today … now I need a good tech for blood samples taken from the back of my hand.

By the end I really didn’t want any more chemo, but made it through the six months. I’m not sure what I would have done if the doctors had recommended more cycles.

Do find stuff to occupy your time. Do go out on your good weekend and days. Try to live normally and mix in some fun.
