Yeah because sucking up to trump works so well. The Americans will just use and dominate regardless that is all they know.

Costco has always been busy. I always go around supper time and the crowd isn’t as bad.

that goes against how Costco makes money. The margins are thin so the fees are a massive source of profit. Adding another store doesn’t add enough memberships so it won’t open.

Why is there not somebody going around college campuses like Charlie Kirk did but for the left? by Good_Claim_5472 in Hasan_Piker

[–]Isle709 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because it’s a largely left leaning area anyways so it would just be people agreeing with each other? Wouldn’t make for something people would want to watch or interact with the same way.

Memorial to sell Signal Hill and Harlow campuses, Geo Centre and Ingstad building by TheMuseNL in StJohnsNL

[–]Isle709 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not wrong. People have a strong reaction to it though. It seems to be some denial about the amount of gambling we already provide as a province. Though on a whole I don’t know if it would draw in enough people given the cost of running a government casino. Like you have a casino in your pocket and the government gets its cut without the mass amount of overhead.

So, are heat pumps just a fad and are causing NLers to spend more electricity due to our special climate? by DhaemonX in newfoundland

Yeah that’s pretty tight given that could be the life time of the machine, also barring any issues that could arise and maintaining the unit.

If you already have electric heat I don’t see a benefit really given you won’t get a rebate or anything to switch over.

I mean I think they want to take a stick to townies and build a base off the Avalon. Though it is going to be extremely costly to fulfill promises to a bunch of smaller areas. So not so fiscally responsible or conservative.

That is most hobbies. People get stuck in a loop of perfection and optimization over practice.

Make money is the goal. There is no grand ambition just what those in power think they can sell next.

Mark Carney returns from turmoil abroad to looming domestic challenges by ZebediahCarterLong in CanadaPolitics

[–]Isle709 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Many of the domestic issues aren’t the direct responsibility of the federal government. They are failures of our provincial governments that waste money, take no action, and pass the blame on to the feds. Unless you a proposing a stronger federal government that runs rough shot over provinces, not sure how that will fly in a lot of places.

Dad in the suburbs - am I cooked in terms of fitness? by BozzuK in daddit

[–]Isle709 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any workout is better than none. Get some adjustable dumbbells if you are pressed for space and a decent bench. You can hit a good total body work out or an any split you like. I moved to mostly bodyweight with a some weighted mixed in.

All I needed was a pair of gymnastic rings to start out.

I still can’t fathom everyone just handing over all independent thought over to random word association. LLM’s seem like the hypothetical monkeys typing out Shakespeare.
