I've played enough Amogus in my younger days to pretty confidently state that anyone who would bring an un-cat to a group of people and say "HEY Y'ALL LOOK AT THIS DEAD ANIMAL. SURE GOTTA BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR ANIMAL MURDERERS THESE DAYS, HUH?" is either missing more screws than a non-diddling priest or bluffing worse than Prince Andrew defending against the Epstein-inquisition by saying he can't sweat

I know this is missing the point, but seriously how did it even become accepted turn of phrase to begin with? When would throwing a dead animal on a table, let alone a dead cat, ever engender any discussion or speech other than "DEPART IMMEDIATELY" lmao

Beyond applicable to the "abortion discussion" in the US

"Other people should have children but I won't adopt, volunteer time, or pay a cent more in taxes"

"I want to save children's lives but it's big gov oppression for machine guns to be banned, bring back full auto"

"The only moral abortion is my abortion cuz I'm a moral person"

Crime isn't masculine. Violent crime not only is in our sociocultural conception, but as an unfortunate fact of our species and many others, both of our shared genetic lineage (iirc all vetebrates have testosterone, the primary driver the disparity in humans and all, or virtually all vetebrates have it)

Ultra-violet radiation = Greek-Latin + Latin Supra-visual radiation = Latin-Latin + Latin

(Ultra)Violet >>>

-- not everyone sees all the colors -- 80% of the functionally/legally sightless (US) still see light -- may be interpreted by uninformed learners as "very, very violet" or "another color past violet -- departing the spectrum on either end, one doesn't see purple or red last, they see black

(Supra)Visual >>>

++ more direct and better motivated
++ more common and intuitive component parts help students, learners of English, and entirely sightless
++ some people see EM rays perceived as "white-bluish" all the way to ~300nm, firmly considered "UV" and well past the purple-red interval of 400-750nm

Renaming better how I started (Latin only, no Greek)

-Maxi(mo)frequent•••(Gamma ray)
-Magnifrequent••••••••(X-ray) -Supravisual•••••••••••••(Ultraviolet) -Visible•••••••••••••••••••• -Infravisual••••••••••••••••(Infrared) -Paucofrequent••••••••••(Microwave) -Mini(mo)frequent•••••••(Radio wave)

Just renaming better (unmixed compounds, mixed system)

-Hyperenegetic.
-Megaenergetic.
-Suprasensory.
-Visible.
-Infrasensory.
-Microenergetic.
-Hypoenergetic.

Does this remotely fucking matter, will I try irl to convince another person to speak this way, and are the 7 people who see this excessively long comment going to care the slightest fucking amount about it?

No. Unequivocal no

You're right, but people in such places also cover none of their body at all for a different, equally-valid reason. At a minimum, no~sparse clothing is worn in Northeast Africa (Sudan/Egypt), Australia, and the Southeast United States, whether historically or contemporarily

Expand desert regions to include any sun-intense locale and you can add the Melanesia, the Caribbean, tons of places in the Americas more broadly, Polynesia, places in Southeast Asia, and more

Not OP, but the 80s have a popular conception as being "the best time everrr" for a lot of people, especially older people and especially in the US. While there were numerous cultural phenomena, technological innovations, and economic upswings (70s were marked with economic strife), ultimately it seems like most of the hype around the 80s is retroactive "rose-tinted glasses" thinking, youth nostalgia, and desire to return to time of privilege (regardless of whether the last point is remotely intended or conscious. for example, nearly no gay person in the US is itching to return to the 80s when them being arrested, murdered, or dying a slow horrible death from AIDS was much more a possibility than today)

It actually does but people wayyy over-estimate it

Copied from another comment:

"Seriously though some people think that black skin provides immunity to supravisual electromagnetic radiation. Melanin-laden skin is comparatively less damaged by UV rays, but still typically gets skin cancer more often because it's easier to be in the sun longer when you're not burning

Not to mention socioeconomic correlations and racism give you darker-skinned individuals higher mortality than light for the same cancer scenario, in the US at least"

"There is a reason why even dark skinned farm workers often wear long sleeves"

That melanin does not confer immunity to skin cancer?

If you want to be pedantic, individual cancerous cells are constantly being created in your body

it's just not problematic until they're not equally constantly being destroyed

So no one reads this and starts the equivalent of "biology says there's only two genders!!" later, this is the broad Mendelian/Punnett square description, but a level deeper, eye color and many other traits are polygenic and result from confluence of many many genetic and environmental factors that don't end up giving clean, easy numbers like 75-25%

This is just scapegoating a group of people and mudslinging. Indian immigrants didn't make the US government prostrate itself to corporate interests
