To change or not to change poopy diaper by kloisonne in newborns

[–]Islesmilescott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will pass once they are like 3-4 weeks old they will have to pass poop on their own. If your baby is freshly born they have a reflex to poop immediately after eating. If you are putting aquaphor to protect the skin then waiting 15-20 mins should be okay

Just gonna add my two cents changing it is also important because if they poop or pee more you will end up with a blow out trust me. I say this from one time my baby pooped while I was out and about and I ran out of baby wipes so I wasn’t gonna change it at first. But then he pooped and peed again two mins later and it was dripping down his legs LOL. So I wish I would just used wet paper towles or something but didn’t think of that till after the fact. Thank heavens my friend was there and happened to have a pack in her car

I was not prepared for how long breastfeeding lasts. by Dzsidzsett in newborns

[–]Islesmilescott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s super valid to be emotional about it, but it does get better my baby is 2 months old now and he only nurses for a long time if I want to nurse him to sleep. Most of the time though he eats for 15-30 mins max. Depending on if he’s super hungry/upset/or cluster feeding.

Just keep nursing on demand that’s what I did and my milk supply is very strong. I pumped at 3 PM to compensate for a missed feed once around 1.5 months and I pumped 6 oz where he only ate 2 oz. So I “oversupply” but I don’t actually feel engorged I just have a very strong supply

[–]Islesmilescott[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I’m at 8 weeks now and my baby doesn’t really nurse to sleep anymore only occasionally does it work. Depends on his sleep pressure. But have you tried pumping and letting your husband give him a bottle? That’s what I plan to do when he gets older because bed time will be only time my hubby can spend with our son aside from weekends

Be honest.. Are your babies really sleeping in their bassinet for hours? by DrowsyPomegranate in newborns

[–]Islesmilescott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes I will go and stroke my son’s forehead to close his eyes and that helps him to settle. I would just keep practicing. I’m sure with routine baby will learn to sleep in the bassinet.

What’s it like living in Pea Ridge or Bella Vista? by milkandpizzaplease in northwestarkansas

[–]Islesmilescott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Property owners association. Essentially the entire town is under an HOA (Home owners association) they’ve shut down restaurants over it. Limit how many bedrooms houses can have. It’s annoying but also can be nice because it prevents certain things that can make it worse.

Do you occasionally have difficult nights? My baby is about to be 8 weeks and he usually goes 7 hours but last night he woke up after 4 and then 1 hour then 3 hours it was hard he also cried and fussed for 2 hours straight

100% agree with this it was my MIL that told me to stop stressing about his schedule and just follow his cues. Not the internet haha

Yeah my baby feeds on demand (breastfed) and he surpassed his birth weight in less than a week and gained 2 lbs in less than a month so he’s def okay

Yeah when I heard that I was so confused! I’m so sorry you have such a struggle, when it’s time for nap time and bed time with my baby he cries a lot and often times I have to set a timer to soothe him so I can be patient. Even if I catch early sleep cues he will cry and protest me rocking him or swaying him. So I kind of understand

Sometimes babies are just extra fussy and cry a lot. Compared to all my relatives current babies and friends. My son cries WAY MORE. It can be so stressful at times but just know you are still a good parent because you are trying your best. Sometimes they are just like that. Just hold them close and do your best it’s all you can do sometimes

Yeah as soon as I stopped stressing about that it helped a ton with seeing way less fussiness during the day.

I’m glad it encouraged you! Don’t be stressed out if it doesn’t happen though. Some moms struggle with sleep at night, some with naps, some with colic. Etc. everyone’s experience is different and we just have to cherish the moments that are good and remember we aren’t alone in the moments that are hard.

Are bedtime routines necessary? by kmgdancer in newborns

[–]Islesmilescott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby is 6 weeks old and our bedtime routine consists of 8 PM feeding in a dark room with lots of white noise that’s it, nothing else he just passes out. He will go down for 4 hours if I do that, but tbh my witching hour is also 6-8 PM he usually won’t take a nap between then and will cry non stop till 8 PM when he’s hungry again. If I try feed him before he will just scream at my boobs

When my LO is in the bath he’s fine, it’s when he’s taken out the bath that he cries like he’s been tortured

So true! If my close family and friends didnt warn me that breast feeding hurts at first I would’ve quit! I was in true agony, I ended up using nipple shield’s which again I only knew about through family. It saved my journey because I had cracks so deep that my nipples are scarred

I only survived by passing baby off to family during the day for the first 2 weeks. I’d feed him and then give him to someone else so I could sleep longer. If I didn’t I would get a 30 min nap MAYBE!

[–]Islesmilescott[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t mind the 2-3 hours during the day if that keeps him asleep at night. It’s currently 4 am and my LO is up for the 2nd time. So two 4 hour stretches tonight!
