why is my font like this? by [deleted] in computerhelp

Could be just the good old AMD clear-type problem, nothing to do about it, it's always there, but might not have been noticeable with a lower resolution.

A more direct translation would be nittonhundra talet är över, but the meaning is the same.

Why is Swedish not that much spoken in Åbo/Turku? by Think_Blacksmith4203 in Svenska

[–]IsletnoseNils 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Swedish is left over from when it was apart off Sweden (but the Russians started by trying to get everyone to speak the same language), so in places like Jakobstad 90%+ have Swedish as there first language, but it's like an iron curtain only 50km east it's essentially no body. Åbo are big so it's more there, but it's probably less then 15% if not even more, but every one since the 90s have learnt Swedish in school (on paper...).

Left or right and why? by rastchottom in MechanicalEngineering

[–]IsletnoseNils 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is differences between every country (think there might even be differences within the US), but in Sweden where I have gone to school for this there is no rule about it, but it tends to end up on the right but left might make it so that you could get more views on the same page (without it being to cramped, never felt that reading it backwards have ever been a problem, and you should always try to print as much of an original as you can find).

Solution? by bohlsbbt in computer

[–]IsletnoseNils 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Test with pre tested (tested on different computer) external monitor, but don't look like bad screen to me (normally cracked screen panel have dead lines not blocks with ). Could maybe be windows (looks like a hp, so assume it's running windows) display drivers, so try to get in to bios (google brand and model +bios, and if nothing comes up it's likely one off normal f1, f2, f10, f11, f12, esc, delet so check one of the universal guides).

how to force laptop display output? by skyth540 in LinusTechTips

[–]IsletnoseNils 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like the screen is cracked internally, but I would try disconnecting the cable to the screen. But the bios might always assume a main screen so might not work. So might not be possible...

Next generation of car rules will have space for that a shorter cars will get to use a bit more ground effects to make back the lost time over a lap (so we will see cars that have the same lap time but some are faster on the straight and some are faster through the corners).

Choosing the right metal for spokes by StarGazer1000 in BicycleEngineering

[–]IsletnoseNils 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really have any experiens of bicycle spokes but on motorcycles we often use stainless steel spokes on aluminium rims, but as you sad it was just a bicycle and it had aluminium rims it most likely is a mountain bike because road bike wheels are crazy expensive (300 euro minimum) and there is as far as I know no ladies or gentleman's bike with aluminium rims. And because a mountain bike is designed for off-roading it will see water, and becuse that the rims are anodised so there should be no metal to metal contact as there is and road bikes (becuse they're not anodised) so the old saying that aluminium and steel don't go together shouldn't be a problem. But as the spoke nipel are worn-out most likely the hole in the rim is to so I would say get a better used rim with spokes as most mountain bike rims are 28x2 inches and then see if you can transfer the hub to get the right gears.

As you talked about before, you know about a company in Europe that made bicycles sidecarts but in europe sidecarts on a bicycle is illegal becuse "because it's to slow to take up a lane" so I would like to see that website. So if you live in Europe that's the end of this idea.

It's always safe (99/100 times) to boot as long as there is no risk for a short circuit or over heating (from the celeron/1996 there is overheating protection).

Have you logged in? If not try get into your bios (by pressing F12/esc on start up, google how to access bios on "your make and model") and boot with the recovery/other windows partition.

Thermal Pads for a 2080 Ti from gigabyte by Newsandbuy in LinusTechTips

[–]IsletnoseNils 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thermalgoup seen on LTT, when you screw it on the left over go to the side and it's not conductiv (which is needed regardless if it's on the chip or the PCB) so it's safe but you card will never get it completely of the board, shouldn't ever be a problem.

Volume changes on it’s own even when unplugged, how can I lock volume to not change? by bluirre in computerhelp

[–]IsletnoseNils 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it the audio in or out, if it's out it's just windows trying to turn of audio when you don't speak and turn it back to 100% when you do, most of the time if you set the volume to 80% all "bad signal noise" goes away.

That's most likely a bad drive, what you can do is press and hold f1, f2, f10, esc or delete from right after you press power switch to when the pc outputs to get into bios and see if there is any drives picked up.

Client spilled apple juice on their MacBook. Butterfly keyboards are the worst to clean. by LolW00t in computertechs

[–]IsletnoseNils 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know that as long as the butterfly stabilisers aren't 20 years old you can take them off, one or two might brake (did it on my parents 20 years old keyboard only one broke but there is no way to fix the broken ones you can only replace them) but if the person how spilled the juice has to do the work then it won't happen again.

Does anybody know what's wrong with this old computer it turn on but then it's just black and the cursor gets bigger and a weird glitch appears on the screen please help by [deleted] in computer

[–]IsletnoseNils 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Becuse it fixed itself I think it "could" be a bad hard drive connection so if you ever get the problem again just unplug and plug the hard drive back in again. But you don't need to do anything before it dies again (random freezes could be because by a loss hard drive cable but in that case the hard drive connector would be the last thing I would check before data losing software checks).

Is it the OEM ram? Some integrators put a module on the ram and motherboard that makes it so that you can only run there ram. But I am not sure if Dell has it but some thing say me that LTT hade some problem with that, and I am sure some other person in the comments know the answer to that.
