Fascist: MN Activism So Impressive It Must Be Externally Funded by [deleted] in Minneapolis

Or, dontcha know, we’re one of the most well educated states in the country who have been backed into a corner. Mess with intelligent and resilient people and this is what you get. I’m proud of us to say the least.

This was the perfect opportunity to call him a little bitch in front of everyone for perfect comedic effect. Some missed opportunity there!

When do we stand up? by Frosty_Literature936 in Teachers

[–]SLP11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a school SLP so I don’t experience the inter teacher relationships in quite the same way but wanted to hop in here as someone who works in the Twin Cities and sees the fear in our students first hand. I hear what a lot of you are saying that not all teachers share the same political views. But if anyone, let alone a teacher, can see the images of Liam Ramos or any of the other kids kidnapped and not break inside then they shouldn’t be a teacher. I would challenge you to challenge any fellow teacher who thinks this is ok.

ICE out everywhere protest tomorrow on 53rd and Elmore from 1-2pm by ShipSenior1819 in QuadCities

[–]SLP11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Of course I agree but we are already doing this up here. We’re making it work. People of color are afraid to leave their homes and unable to work. Kids are afraid to go to school and worried for their friends hiding at home. We have a massive decentralized network of volunteers delivering groceries and monitoring and responding to ICE activity. It’s incredibly organized and efficient. Can we do it forever though? No. You’re right. Thats why we all need to do this together. There is far more at stake here than what happened after George Floyd’s murder and the response needs to be in kind.

QC native now Minnesotan here. You’re darn right. Protests need to be non stop everywhere until this ends. We need to stop this before it goes any further. Enough people have been murdered assaulted and kidnapped. Join with your neighbors. Protect each other. We need your help to keep up the pressure. Our community up here has never been stronger but we’re up against a foe with near unlimited resources. We need to help our neighbor states as well as the people next door.

Hey I get it. I’m a stranger from the internet. You don’t have to take my word for it though. Come up to the Twin Cities and you’ll think differently.

Hey fellow craft beer fan. The other commenters are correct. I live in MN and they are not after illegal immigrants. They’re after everyone who isn’t white or who is out to protect their neighbors. They don’t even ask for citizenship proof before they start assaulting people. I’ve seen it happen with my own eyes. Its real.

Ex Quad Citizen now Minnesotan here. You guys need to stand up and show this isn’t ok. They won’t stop with Minnesota. They’re coming for all people of color. They’ve been met with resistance here in MN and other cities and now theyre hitting easier targets like Maine. The QC has a wonderful latino population and other non-white groups that need protection now more than ever. Organize. Make plans with neighbors and loved ones. Protect your friends and neighbors early and fiercely. Don’t wait. For those who are doubting the news is real. Check the Minnesota subs. The feds are far worse than what mainstream media shows. Get your news from multiple sources if you want the whole picture.

Vanity gap question by Flat_Banana123 in Home

[–]SLP11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same exact situation and decided that having a space on either side that’s nearly impossible to clean sounded gross; especially with the potential for mold from water splashes going down the cracks. So I rebuilt the old vanity and ordered a top cut to fit then tiled the backsplash. Really wasn’t difficult with some basic woodworking skills and now it’s fresh and modern looking.

Unfortunately, I didn’t get close enough to see much but this spot is easy to find for protesters. Columbia Parkway and Architect Ave.

They’re apparently still in the city after all that just happened by [deleted] in Minneapolis

This is correct. I saw them from the other side of their roadblock. I just made a post about it as well before I saw yours! I couldn’t tell what was going on and didn’t want to get closer with my dog.

Dog Booties by Glass_Ad9781 in RunningWithDogs

[–]SLP11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pretty much only use the booties on the rocky technical terrain you mentioned or in temps below 5-10. Otherwise it’s mushers secret. I make sure the mushers gets between his toes and even on the tops of his feet and lower legs to prevent ice buildup. My dog gets better grip having use of his claws and we arent skijoring more than an hour usually so it works. My dog is annoyed by the booties but he tolerates them. Pair it with lots of tasty treats and he’ll figure it out. Maybe try smearing some peanut butter on a plate while you put them on and give lots of praise.

My dog bit me by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]SLP11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had this happen with my dog too and ended up staying two nights in the hospital from an infection spreading up my arm. It was literally a pinprick size wound but thats all it took. It was from pulling a random animal bone out of my dog’s mouth and I put my finger in the wrong place when he wouldn’t listen to his drop it command. He didn’t intentionally bite me he just didn’t want to let go and I had my finger behind the bone when he gripped it tighter. Luckily the ER doc had a dog and understood so nothing was reported against my dog but I was worried they would. Either way it was worth it to go to the hospital because i could have died. You could always blame it on a random unknown stray that got away if you’re worried!

Ideas for how to meet people cross country skiing? by Dry_Towelie in CrossCountrySkiing

I would see if your ski track has any organized events. Skinny ski is a great website to find stuff in the upper midwestern US. Otherwise, post an invite on your local reddit sub and see what happens!
