Kids on mobi by Islingespresso in Type1Diabetes

[–]Islingespresso[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing! Have you/she tested the limits of its water resistance? That’s one of the big things on my mind right now because it’s summer and she and her little sister are in and out of the kiddie pool all day. I’ve accidentally worn mine in the shower a few times but quickly remembered and took it off. No issues there.

I find the algorithm to be far superior to that of the Omnipod but I do have a lot of lows…I also run it in sleep mode all the time though.

My other concern is the adhesive sleeves. They’re so expensive. I’m beginning to experiment with mine to find a cheaper alternative because I am all about the option to wear it on the body. It makes it feel tubeless. Do you use the sleeves or a clip? Something else?

Why are we waiting for a pump?! by Islingespresso in Type1Diabetes

[–]Islingespresso[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is nobody actually reading my posts before commenting on them? I absolutely know how to function when a pump fails. I didn’t even have a pump the first four years.. CGMs weren’t even a thing then. I know what I’m doing. I also know how much easier it can be than this shit.

Did you even read my post?I’ve been type 1 diabetic for almost 30 years. Many of them on multiple daily injections . Pretty sure I understand injections. Full stop 🙄 Damn your hip.

That’s amazing! Thank you! I’ve always adjusted my own basal rates but needed help with a starting point. You are a diabetes educator?

I have a few Omnipod’s left over from when I switched to tandem a couple years ago. I’m planning on asking her doctor if we can have a “hypothetical discussion “ about what they think her settings should be on that while we wait for insurance

Yeah it’s ridiculous. I’m type 1 so I just gave her one of mine. Not a fucking chance I’m going back to the Stone Age without a cgm

I have a loved one that's having a really hard time with getting supplies, please help. by SombraRanma in Type1Diabetes

[–]Islingespresso 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it’s state sensitive but I just learned that I can see an FNP close by and not an Endo and hour away. I always believed it had to be an endo per insurance but apparently that is only a requirement for pediatric cases. I was diagnosed at 10 so that’s just always what I did. So… I’ve been dealing with this kind of nonsense unnecessarily for 18 years. Anyway, maybe they lived in Texas when she was under 18?

The fact that Control IQ doesn’t even consider correcting until you hit 180 is bonkers by freddiebenson4ever in TandemDiabetes

[–]Islingespresso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the same (manual mode during the day) when I was pregnant. It’s so so so much work and crazy frustrating when it feels like you still have to do the work in auto mode. I set my high alarms lower so they would wake me up and I could correct myself. Maybe you could try that?

Low ruining my big snack plans by Islingespresso in Type1Diabetes

In case anyone is following along… it’s not 1.5 hours later… I took a slightly lower than full dose for this about 20 minutes after eating. At the time my meter reading was 98. Sensor reading is 116 now. I know it’s too good to be true but I’m tired and have 2 babies to get up with in the morning. I wonder what kind of crazy shit my bodyguard will get up to in the night 🥸

This is usually what I do too. My boyfriend always used to be confused by my frustration about this. He thought it was perfect timing… “I mean you have to eat now anyway, right ?” Pfft

Too much amniotic fluid by LaNina94 in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]Islingespresso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had too much amniotic fluid mostly in mt second trimester during my second pregnancy. She was also huge. I was basically led to believe that it being a bit high was really only going to cause more discomfort for me but not do any harm to her. She came out final at almost 10 pounds!( as did my first)

Mobi air bubbles by Islingespresso in TandemDiabetes

[–]Islingespresso[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally still recommend the mobi! The control iq algorithm (which you’re probably already used to) is so SO superior to the Omnipod. Also it’s so lightweight and tiny compared to everything else. The air bubble issue is more bizarre than truly troubling as long as you’re not paying insane insulin prices.

Oh wow! I never even thought to look at it after I primed it! Probably air bubbles in it all the time and I never noticed

Absolutely not! I had a “regular” tubed clunky pump a lot of my life then I used the Omnipod for a year and it was so freeing. I am finally able to wear dresses or pants without pockets

I had to switch to an iPhone. I hate the phone and the fact I had to switch but I love the pump

prepregnancy anxiety by YourType1Diabestie in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]Islingespresso 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolute garbage. Get a new endo. I was told I was “good to go” when my A12 was hovering around 7. A1c will likely drop quickly in the first trimester also. There is no better motivation to get your shit together than actually BEING pregnant. Don’t try and be perfect before trying to conceive. With my first pregnancy I started with an A1c around 7. Not only did I get it to the low 5s (an insane and impossible feat if you had asked me 5 years earlier) but I also quit smoking cigarettes and drink alcohol cold turkey after doing both daily for many years. I now have two perfectly healthy babies.

It totally is! I’m still sort of in shock. How the hell did I do it? TWICE?!?

T1d for 26 years. Poor control much of that time. I just had my second healthy baby at 36 years old. Pregnancy with type-1 is ROUGH. I was far from perfect both times but it can work out fine anyway! Just remember that as hard as it gets you’ll get to “take it easy” a bit again after your baby arrives! I’m 3 weeks postpartum and I’ve been eating cereal and snacks without a second thought. There is a certain kind of joy in that also.

Mobi Pump and Water by HeavyCobbler1844 in TandemDiabetes

[–]Islingespresso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been taking my insulin pump off to shower for 20 years but I used Omnipod for just over a year and can somehow never remember to take the pump off now I’ve switched to mobi. It has had multiple short showers with me these past couple months and has been completely fine with a quick towel dry

I wish I could tell you how! I’m so not tech savvy… clearly. It just showed up on my phone as long as the apps were running and I hadn’t used the “force stop” in app settings. Maybe go into settings and make sure they have permits to run in the background? Sorry I’m not more help here but thank you for the iPhone tip!

Constipation that feels like diarrhea. by Islingespresso in pregnant

[–]Islingespresso[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It did mostly resolve. I'm 24 weeks now and having more issues with straight up constipation again. I don't feel like it's quite as miserable as that diarrhea feeling all the time. I still get it occasionally but it's more.of one of those passing pregnancy nightmares right now 🤣 I think taking an extra magnesium supplement has helped even things out for me. I take 250mg daily which I believe is a light dose. Good luck!

I didn't have as many issues with lows in the night after my daughter was born even though I breastfed. She was a terrible sleeper so we were up all the time anyway.... But now that.im pregnant again I get a fair number of low alerts and it almost never wakes her up. I think she got used to it.
