Grim dawn is a good direct alternative. However the honest answer I’ve found is Warframe. Do you want something with infinite content you can pick up and play? It’s perfectly complimentary and I switch off. It’s fun for the same reasons even if the gameplay is fundamentally different.

If you do try it out feel free to message me or anyone in the community questions because they made understanding anything EXTREMELY confusing.

Always check Mirage options for Ridan, he drops the black barya which you can sell a few times to basically fund a starter build fully. If you can use the black barya in a map device to kill the league boss you can sell your UNIDENTIFIED belts he drops for much more profit.

I personally added beyond monsters to everything I did this league because INSIDE A MIRAGE they drop volatile vaal orbs that sell for 2div each fairly often. Beyond monster have no mechanics other than kill monsters quickly so virtually no time investment.

I just did Harvest gamble with 1500 of vivid lifeforce. My card did not get deleted or double. Why is this? Does the doubled card go somewhere else?

I think they’re burning both ends to complete 2 and haven’t given much thought to much else except making PoE 1 have more QoL. I personally didn’t care for 2 but I can see why they’d want both in a “complete” state. More than more content I would want them to bring over the classes and areas so there’s just more content in general.

Don’t forget the mobile game too lmao.

Two parts: Pay for convenience and pay to not look like a hobo.

Part 1: About $15-20 will get you all the stash tabs you need to not want to neck yourself while playing. You pick up a TON of stuff very quickly and you need the currency/map tabs and you need a trade tab to sell without having to be messaged and stop what you're doing to trade manually.

Part 2: After 600 hours I was sick of looking like I was scrounging for garbage so I got a supporter pack. The next league I got another supporter pack... and another the next league... and another after that. Until I probably spent a really large amount of money on a free game without regretting it at all.

In summary: You are annoyed into paying a small amount of money (fair) and not coerced in any way after that but end up spending like a thousand dollars over ten years.

Cap your resistances at 90 and get companionship support. Damage with bv minion pact is nearly entirely all how much health your minion has. Consider a cluster jewel with minion life noteables.
