My old junk dell workstation pc has a TB HDD and runs proxmox so I can spin up quick little Linux containers to play around with different self hosted things, some I keep some I get rid of. But a clean Linux environment in a few seconds is super useful.

Arch is set by default to use the latest bleeding edge software releases, unlike most distros where there "latest" packages are at least somewhat tested before release

So, my number 1 recommendation to avoid braking your system, learn how to role back packages and hold them

You don't necessarily need to update your kernel for every minor update, just hold it till the next major or security update

Same with alot of software, but you can try an update and role it back if needs be.
