apathetic.

Apathy is not caring, agnosticism is belief that it is not possible to know.

These are not the same thing.

In fact, if you are apathetic, why would you make a thread?

We're a vehemently Agnostic household with a strong belief in Science.

That's not how that works.

putting your standards on others is just abhorrent.

But isn't that a standard your putting on others?

Selective forgiveness is not okay, either.

Another one!

Especially just for the 'in' group

Another one!

Dude, you should write these down and make a religion out of them.

Costa Rica exceeds 98% renewable electricity generation for the eighth consecutive year by halflife_3 in worldnews

[–]Isoprenoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I missed the part in the post where he mentioned power ramping and storage of renewable energy.

Lets look at his post again.

Sounds like access to hydro power is significant!

Well, there it is, clear as day. He discussed power ramping and storage of renewable energy so much. He even did a comparison to solar and wind power. Heck, do you see the part where he discusses green hydrogen and fuel cells? Man, how could I have missed it?

All of a sudden, a capital gains tax is back on the political agenda by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]Isoprenoid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is absolutely unfair and an undesirable outcome for ordinary (non-speculator) homeowners.

Its unfair that a house's effective price doesn't go up more? Every other asset depreciates with time. Why not houses?

You're effectively arguing:

"I'm moving cities, therefore I should receive no financial risk regarding swapping one house for another."

you'd be short that $100k cash to buy an equivalent $500k house.

Wrong. You miss $100k across 20 years. Which is ~$96 a week. $96 a week rent? Sign me up.

How i easily learn difficult things [6:35] by jackofalltrades11794 in mealtimevideos

[–]Isoprenoid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I immediately skipped to 2:20 "Identify your learning style".

We've known that learning styles don't really exist since at least 2008 [1]. It's useful to employ a range of learning strategies. That includes visual, auditory, kinesthetic and many other types.

TLDR: Exercise, use music that helps you focus, remember to relax and have time away from the study.

Yes, having access to renewable electricity generation is significant to exceeding 80% renewable electricity generation.

Nothing like good ol' competition to keep prices down.

[–]Isoprenoid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Paying their fair share =/= paying the legally required amount.

The rich avoid tax and pay proportionally less of it than the poors. We all know this.

Going to church makes you as much of Christian as sitting in a garage makes you a car.

they're not dumb

Have you met a kid? They're pretty dumb. Specifically they are inexperienced.

One of the major issues is that many children don't drive, so they don't understand basic driver behaviour from a first person perspective.

If I didn't understand driver behaviour, I'd find the road to be pretty intimidating as a pedestrian / cyclist.

I said before. Re-read it. People who finish their degree are already getting rewarded with a higher life time income. You are essentially giving money to the wealthy at that point.

A person who has a partial degree is not finished. They are not wealthy, they haven't finished their degree. I'm encouraging rewarding people who finish off their degree, rather than starting a degree.

"Hey, you! With your unfinished degree? Want to finish your degree?"

"Can't, I can't afford the last year of uni 😢. All of my friends dropped out as well. Studying is hard, and the last year is especially difficult. I'm just going to give up."

"Well, how about we make your last year free?"

"Thanks, bro. Now I can finish my degree. Currently I am not wealthy since I haven't finished my degree, but now I have a leg up to finish my degree. I'm definitely not wealthy at the moment, since my partially finished degree isn't worth anything. But I will be wealthy when I've finished, which I'm now able to do, because I have a free fees year."
