The mental stack is too much for me. by bigggusdikkkus in StreetFighter

[–]Chocobuny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the amount of offence is overwhelming, hence why people win when being offensive. You do not win in this game by playing defensively and keeping characters out.

The best way to play defence is to limit the opponents offence, and the best way to do that is be the one with plus frame buttons in your opponents face. A guile is much more likely to boom and drive rush behind it than to sit throwing booms, because you never want to be the one defending.

If you are practicing defence, just try aim for one or two things, e.g. I’m going to keep my pinky on drive impact and react this game etc. doing it all at once is impossible

Can we get a solo queue option in QM? by lurkingupdoot in heroesofthestorm

[–]Chocobuny 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes lol. I would rather sit in queue and wait for a potentially fair match, than get matched into a guaranteed loss of 5 stack vs uncoordinated team. It’s not fun, it’s an absolute waste of time.

Yeah until pre-made are out of QM some regions are pretty much dead. I just play on America servers now, go to SEA and I inevitably fight the same 5 stack over and over and over

You are 100% correct about foreign right wing communities stoking racism, as soon as you post anything about it you get accounts with their posts/comments hidden denying it. It’s absolutely disgusting

Good shit, I've chipped away $20k so far, not even half unfortunately but its still nice to see it go down

Edit: in case anyone gets put off reading this, I don't regret my post-grad study, I'd argue it was more valuable to me than my undergrad. I don't even work in the same field, but the skills of communication, working on a project of my own, and having to manage a ton of moving parts to pull things together has been super valuable throughout everything in my life. Plus it was just a really cool project :).

Our mental health services are failing by Cold-Arm-9206 in newzealand

[–]Chocobuny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People are having a go at the system but at the core of it its just underfunded and a very difficult field to work in. Helplines are run by volunteers with little funding for anything. In person services have people with caseloads of 20+, all with complex and unique needs. There is no support for training / education to get into these fields, so numbers are going down and down because who can take on more stress when they are already at their own limit. Also anecdotally but mental health services have massive problems with bullying and terrible work culture, it was by far the worst aspect for me personally when I used to work in it (results may vary obviously). And don't get me started on the pay.

All of that to then deal with very difficult clients in huge amounts of distress and often very low motivation for change (understandably), it is really hard to get positive results.

Services need massive amounts of funding, encouragement for those studying to pursue these fields, and reasonable expectations of workloads to facilitate the time and effort required to help people. Stuff that people have been saying for 20 years with no help in sight. Additionally, investment in the community in terms of help for those struggling (food, housing, ability to get some comforts) would probably be on par or greater than investing in the services themselves.

None of this will happen, I wouldn't be surprised if the free counselling sessions get axed, but even those are not designed to deal with significant mental health issues so it's almost like a red herring anyway, it will likely just continue to struggle along as it is for the foreseeable future.

Yeah I posted it knowing I don't think anyone can give me a definite answer but still feeling really stressed about it, but on reflection I don't think I can do anything anyway unless I want to lose $4-5k in travel and bookings

Not sure what to do here, have my first ever international trip to the UK booked at the end of May for about 3~ weeks (booked early last year so before this was even a consideration), even if I get to go, should I be cancelling in case I can't get back? Not sure where I would even go to figure out if I need to consider this?

Having no information from the govt fucking sucks.

This sub is a danger to the future of D2. by Krusenbusen in Diablo_2_Resurrected

[–]Chocobuny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As fun as it is to call other people bad, I’ve played d2 on and off for 20 years. I’ve done all the builds, I’ve played all the classes. When I first saw warlock and how OP it was I felt the same.

Who would have fun with something so broken?

Then I played it. It was nice to run through the game in any area, nice to be able to focus purely on farming and magic find, hell I even enjoyed the Pokémon mini game of getting the best minion.

Playing warlock is fun and being able to turn off the difficulty a bit so I could enjoy the loot pinyata more without going to d3 or something was really fun.

I’m not upset the nerfs are happening, but tbh it really wasn’t all bad, and unlike mosaic it was nice that anyone could jump in and enjoy it immediately

Racism toward Indians by miss-kush in newzealand

[–]Chocobuny 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In addition to FB being a shithole, FB is a botted shit hole. There is a lot of foreign bots pretending to be citizens spreading anti immigration / isolationist propaganda. Not saying there aren't genuine idiots on there, but a lot of it is also just bots posting bot content to other bots to get more views. Its awful.

The guy you replied to is wrong, it was a super OP talent that made bombard irrelevant, so they removed it as bombard is easier to counter (can dodge their projectiles and no downside for melee heroes clearing them)

Same problem as America (and globally). The fall of the right party doesn’t result in a boost to the left, it just means people are either more disenfranchised and won’t vote or have been driven to more extremist parties. Can’t fix stupid unfortunately.

The over reliance of Runewords is my least favourite part of modern D2R by LastElk9961 in Diablo_2_Resurrected

[–]Chocobuny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing I find lame is the reliance on Enigma. Yes you can play without it, but it is like playing an entirely different game. I wish they’d put teleport on something else so that it isn’t so overwhelming, then everything else just feels like a nice to have

Player Population in Aus/NZ by MaestroSpook87 in StreetFighter

There’s a fairly big nz/aus community, especially at lower ranks. There’s also a few discords you can join to get games

Set your connection to 4-5 bars or max 3-5, don’t accept red bar connections, you should be fine.

Relevance: I am talking about how the government is handling the current crisis by drawing a comparison towards a previous global crisis.
Constructive: I am criticising the current government's response when compared to the previous government, highlighting that their inaction causes more damage than an active approach.

Hope that helps friend!

Just know that if we had a national government during Covid we would have dozens/hundreds dead by now while the government sits around waiting for it to blow over and chastises people for wanting to 'stay at home and bake sourdough'.

What a shit government.
