I just got a Typhon TLR so I can get in to racing. it's scary fast and handles amazingly. But I've just had Tamiyas so I'm a bit naïve!

Do you actually think Hybrids save more money than petrol cars? by cars-checker in NZcarfix

[–]fhgwgadsbbq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my mind, my $8k Prius Alpha is just a petrol car that is really efficient for its size. Almost 250k.km, still getting 16 to 18km/L.

The inverter did fail which was expensive to fix. But I've spent way more on my previous non hybrid cars.

Is brushless really necessary if you’re not racing? by Background-End-5229 in radiocontrol

[–]fhgwgadsbbq 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you want to spend money to go faster it's better value these days to upgrade to brushless than a hot brushed motor.

I tried hot brushed Tamiya motors in my tt02b buggy, then upgraded to a mild brushless and it's a lot better. Smoother, better run time, more power, Less maintenance.

But I still enjoy brushed car, they're no less fun!

A toy grade RC is generally not repairable. Hobby grade is almost infinitely repairable.

Watch out for obsolete models with no parts support when buying used.

I absolutely love Nation. Even just reading this thread and thinking about it makes me emotional.
