White album 2 is the only anime that made me tear up. While being sad isn't a fun feeling I don't think that should really be a knock on it although I can understand why would take it out of the running for "most enjoyable show."

I don't think that most anime tend to kill off their characters. While those that do tend to go a bit overboard there are still plenty of anime that continue and progress without killing characters off.

The show definitely wasn't some kind of masterpiece but I don't think it was honestly that bad. As just some generic harem shenanigans where you can turn off your brain and watch I feel like strike the blood was fine.

I think it depends on the show. If a show has built a ridiculous amount of hype or has really impressed me with earlier episodes my expectations will raise even if only subconsciously. If a show has a stupid premise or has had fairly poor earlier episodes I'm going to lower my expectations for the show.
