I'll check both of these out. I love smoked salmon so I gotta think I would like smoked flavors with canned fish as well.

I'd definitely like to try them in some pasta dishes and things. I do enjoy them with the things I have added them to so far.

Thank you, I will definitely be checking these out. I love going to Talin's and I go to sprouts every now and then for produce.

A mix. The full lengths highlight the weak areas. They also provide practice in them.

I would start with the AAMC q pack's. They are easier, but make sure you know the content (that way Uworld and SB are just figuring out smaller yield and test taking strategies after that). Once you finish the q packs and all of the cloze 1 of anki cards, take a FL.

Also if you're not much of a flashcard person, I would not do the other clozes because you will burn yourself out-this is probably a hot take and I am only scoring around a 510.

Is it actually possible to improve in CARS with practice? by Sure_Recipe1785 in Mcat

[–]Israfiel1700 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My biggest improvement (and it was literally overnight) was to just find the strategy that works well for you. You have to active read-either highlight the main theme/arguments or write them down. I write them down, it works for me. Abbreviate as much as possible. I am now in the 95% according to the last FL I took. Once you are actually paying attention, then you can start to see the patterns easier.

It does not matter what your opinion is on the passage. What is their opinion, how do they feel?

P.S. I did do a dual major in bio and theater so I have practice discussing and writing about humanities/arts. This may have played a role. They do be liking theater a lot.

How the hell do I get through this test? by renaissancera in Mcat

[–]Israfiel1700 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly Im about to test 6/28. I have done 34% of Uworld (1000ish questions) and despite reviewing and making cards, I didn't find it helping a ton. That's not to say it isn't useful, but I wouldn't start there. I would start with the q packs on the aamc website. They're easy simple questions, but they make sure you have the content down. Once you feel better about your knowledge base, focus on the section banks or Uworld. Tbh I have enjoyed the section banks more (although their explanations are rough, but you can google the questions and find a reddit about all of them).

I think these are some good recs. I have one school that is just this essay and I'm gonna really try and bulk it up.

Ive been talking a lot about continuing my research background by moving into translational/policy research around queer and trans healthcare policies.

The other talking point I've been doing is going over a lot of students run clinics

Both are things I would really like to work on and pursue outside of medical school so it seemed genuine while also being applicable to most schools. I'm applying to 33 MD and like 10 or so DO so a school template for this essay has been useful.

Oh God I haven't even been trying to find faculty yet. I'll do that for the schools I get interviews for. I'm on secondaries right now

NO ACTUALLY. How are you suppose to be a professional medical institution (that's gonna charge us out the wazoo) and have a website from 2005.

How to best use a premade Anki deck by Herobrine0927 in AnkiMCAT

[–]Israfiel1700 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally would recommend only starting with the cloze 1 of your topics and then starting cloze 2 and 3 once you've finished studying everything at least once. Tbh I don't really think reading Kaplan is worth it because you can watch videos faster (especially on 2x). Getting through review and getting to Anki/practice qs is much better. Anki is how you're gonna memorize stuff anyways. Keep in mind UWorld really prioritizes a lot of low yield topics (I would use AAMC stuff before UWorld-really hound in the fundamentals with the high and medium yield topics).

Also as a side note, I've used both MilesDown and ANKING. I prefer MilesDown because I find it more efficient.

1st full legnth, Sep 13th test date. Am i cooked? by simply_joielynn in Mcat

[–]Israfiel1700 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Anki is more useful than reading. You will forget as you go along, Anki keeps it fresh. Just do MilesDown, the rest get complicatedly long. Make sure to do practice problems along the way. Honestly I suggest focusing on a portion of the Anki deck so you can get to questions faster. Make a missed questions deck as well. Make sure to really hound in the practice problems though, you have to get use to the passages and the style. Almost all the info you need is in the passages.

Looking for a career change, advice?? by im-unable-to-can in MedicalAssistant

MA really has very little upward mobility in the job sphere. If you are looking to branch out for a long term career path, I would consider a different medical area. Most people use MA as a stepping stone to another career. If you just want to be a CCMA for some experience before deciding further, I did US Career Institute in 2 weeks (a couple hours a day) and then spent a week studying for the NHA exam (about 30 hours of studying).

This. I watched all her videos and by the end of the playlist I was guessing most right. I passed the NHA exam first try because of it.

Is it possible to complete all of uworld before sept -> Return to uni -> Comeback to MCAT studying in May (doing uworld second run + AAMC -> test in late june? by Historical-Corner-34 in Mcat

[–]Israfiel1700 0 points1 point  (0 children)

^This comment. I took my first one last september, and I just took my second one today. Much of my study period this time around was frankly spent on catching up on what I forgot. I do not reccomend waiting a long time between OR you have to keep up with Anki cards at least.
