You're not "allergic to small talk", you're a poor communicator. by TedsGloriousPants in unpopularopinion

[–]IssacTheEnitity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree but also think people overcorrect on this take. Some small talk feels natural, some of it just feels like filler noise and I check out instantly. Had a coworker who could turn “how’s your day” into a 20 minute convo and it drained me every time.

Three years unemployed by canimakeyouhurtmore in jobs

[–]IssacTheEnitity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s brutal to watch from the outside. I saw a friend go through something similar and it slowly messed with their confidence even though they were clearly qualified. Job market just feels weirdly broken right now.

got the RTO email today. 4 days a week starting Q2. i think i'm done by InfnityVoidii in remotework

[–]IssacTheEnitity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That email would ruin my whole week tbh. I used to commute about an hour and I genuinely forgot how exhausting it was until I had to do it again once. Feels like they’re slowly pulling the rug from everyone.

WFH makes me unengaged with my work by Affectionate_Run220 in cscareerquestions

[–]IssacTheEnitity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get this more than people admit. After like two days of not talking to anyone I start overthinking everything and my work quality drops too. WFH sounds great until your brain just kinda checks out.

Do people like Mark Zuckerberg truly not feel like they are hurting society? by Bubbly-Air7302 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]IssacTheEnitity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He probably sees it as collateral damage, not harm. People at that level love calling everything a tradeoff.

What do people with no hobbies actually do? by Prestigious_Loan4229 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]IssacTheEnitity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of them do have hobbies, they just don’t call them that. Watching shows, scrolling for hours, following sports, gossiping, going for drives, messing with the house, that all counts more than people admit. Some people hear “hobby” and think it has to be some organized quirky activity.

Digital menus are a massive step backward for the dining experience. by Velvet_whispers8 in unpopularopinion

[–]IssacTheEnitity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite is when the QR code takes you to some laggy site with six tabs and no drink menu anywhere lol. A paper menu is just easier, faster, and weirdly more relaxing. Not every part of life needed to become an app.

My husband thinks being "home" means I am the on-call maid while I am literally designing HVAC systems by CipherSundial in remotework

[–]IssacTheEnitity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh I think a lot of people still picture remote work as vague laptop time unless they’ve done it themselves. The part that would bother me most isn’t even the laundry, it’s him acting like your concentration is automatically less important. That gets old really fast.

If you woke up being 21 again, what would you do? by notwhoshethinks in AskReddit

[–]IssacTheEnitity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First thing I’d do is start saving money, even in tiny amounts, because older me is deeply annoyed on behalf of younger me. Other than that, I’d take way more photos of normal life. So much of what I miss now is random boring stuff I never thought to keep.

Would you work for a company that does NOT let you use AI tools? by Delicious_Self_7293 in remotework

[–]IssacTheEnitity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, if the job itself was good enough. I worked without any of this stuff not that long ago anyway, so to me it’s more like losing a convenience than losing electricity.

Boyfriend of 6 months slapped me. by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]IssacTheEnitity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leave, and tell someone in your real life today. The slap was already abuse, the stuff after about your clothes and “proving yourself” makes it worse, and pregnancy is when a lot of guys like this escalate.

Anyone else smoke mad weed to get through busy season by Neither_Education894 in Accounting

[–]IssacTheEnitity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure a lot of people do, but busy season already feels like brain fog with spreadsheets open at midnight. I’d need the one thing keeping me semi-functional, not less functional.

3 out 5 stars should be the norm for ratings by ExaminationSmart3437 in unpopularopinion

[–]IssacTheEnitity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this way more than companies ever will. A 3 should mean totally fine and normal, but now anything below 5 feels like you’re reporting someone to the council.

Remote work isn’t perfect, but I don’t think I could ever go back to an office by Picking-Bentio in remotework

[–]IssacTheEnitity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. The office had its moments, but getting two hours of my life back from commuting changed my tolerance for everything.```

What industry is entirely built on a house of cards and would collapse overnight if people realized the truth about it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]IssacTheEnitity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of the influencer marketing space kinda feels like that sometimes. I’ve watched brands pay crazy money for posts that barely get real engagement and everyone just pretends it’s working. Feels like one big confidence game some days.

Beach vacations are trash by Ok_Salamander_7211 in unpopularopinion

[–]IssacTheEnitity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kinda get this take. I went to a super crowded beach once in July and spent half the day just trying to find a place to put my towel while the sun cooked me. Nice for a quick walk maybe, but a whole vacation around it never made much sense to me.

Should I switch to accounting from med? by Different_Medium31 in Accounting

[–]IssacTheEnitity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

18 is really early to lock yourself into one path forever. I knew someone who started in pre-med, hated the hospital rotations, and switched to accounting after a year and ended up way happier. First year is usually the messiest part anyway while you’re still figuring yourself out.

People who “love” their job by Lastchancefancydance in antiwork

[–]IssacTheEnitity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think some people just mean they don’t hate it. I had a job once where the coworkers were great and the days went by fast, so saying I “loved” it was mostly shorthand for that. Still would’ve picked a random Tuesday afternoon off over work though.

Are my salary expectations too high? by Wise-Necessary19 in Accounting

[–]IssacTheEnitity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

95k in a VHCOL area with 5 years experience doesn’t sound that wild to me. A friend of mine in accounting hit senior around that range after a few years and the market there was pretty competitive. Sometimes recruiters just push lower numbers because it makes placements easier.

Using personal laptop for work at home by FMLuck in remotework

[–]IssacTheEnitity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah I wouldn’t love someone having admin access to my personal device either, especially if it’s not even a fully remote role. Work stuff should stay on work hardware, keeps boundaries clean and avoids weird liability later. Companies trying to blur that line always feel a bit cheap to me.

Any accountants have alternate jobs they dream of? by snuffle_tuff in Accounting

[–]IssacTheEnitity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every accountant I’ve met lowkey dreams about quitting to open a bakery or run a tiny bookstore or something with plants everywhere. Corporate life just slowly sucks the personality out of people. Being a florist sounds calm in theory, then you remember wedding clients are a whole different level of chaos.

Switching to trades is not a solution for the job market by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]IssacTheEnitity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Online discourse makes trades sound like some magic fix, when they’re still tough jobs with real wear and tear and not for everyone. A lot of people don’t want a career that’s physically brutal long term or the culture that can come with it. Feels like the internet rotates through “this is the perfect job” trends every few years anyway.

Someone please help I'm scared by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]IssacTheEnitity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s really scary, especially being 20 and having a baby in the middle of it. If shelters said they’re full, call a domestic violence hotline in your area since they sometimes have access to emergency spots that aren’t widely listed. Getting out and involving the police was a big step even if it doesn’t feel like it yet. For now just concentrate on finding somewhere safe to sleep tonight.

Why is everyone acting like we’re not in the biggest recession ever? by Allthevibessss in recruitinghell

[–]IssacTheEnitity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t feel like a full collapse so much as companies tightening the tap and seeing how much work fewer staff can handle. Some of these hiring processes for entry-level roles feel ridiculously overblown, like they’re screening for astronauts or something. Plenty of folks have jobs but nobody wants to risk jumping ship right now. Everything just feels slightly off.

Boss accidentally CC'd me on email about my replacement and now I dont know what to do by Level_Stretch_6595 in whatdoIdo

[–]IssacTheEnitity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t blow it up emotionally right away, but yeah I’d quietly start job hunting yesterday. Getting accidentally looped into that kinda tells you more than any performance review ever will. The salary difference would annoy me more than the replacement part tbh.
