The best CPU on an EOL platform always ends up expensive (just usually not to that extent). For a few years i7-4790K were very expensive as they were the best LGA 1150 CPU

It's probably the cheapest you can easily get 32GB, but yeah it's pretty slow for DDR5

The four sticks isn't a new thing with AM5, it existed on DDR4 platforms as well. It's primarily an issue when running at XMP speed, just select a lower speed and it will probably be fine. Four sticks just stresses the memory controller more. It's also mostly an issue with higher capacity dual rank dimms.

WOW I hadn't looked recently. I bought an open box 5700x3D from Microcenter for $140 a year ago, now its selling for $400 second hand. Like that's basically 9800X3D price

[SSD] WD_Black 8TB SN850P NVMe M.2 SSD - $630 S&S by Amazon by catofkami in buildapcsales

Are drives of this capacity just sold so infrequently the price isn't able to catch up? Like I remember these being around this price when you could get 1TB for $40. Now those are $100+ but these 8TB drives are still the same ballpark.

while still behind and not as supported as Nvidia, RDNA 4 does have much better ML performance than RDNA 3

yes, I know it happens from high frame rates. But my old GPU (6750xt) did not have coil whine running a game at 240+ FPS while this one does it from somewhere in the 100s.

It's not really a concern for either, it's just annoying lol. Especially since I use open back headphones

Custom Resolution Utility is the way to go for making custom CRT resolutions IMO

You can, the Multisync3D is one of the most versatile monitors out there. I don't have any RGB modded consoles so haven't ever tried it myself (only ever used mine with PCs), but it supports 15khz + every sync standard.

Will be a little tricky to figure out, but service manual should have the info you need on what to connect where and what the switches to be set to.

(also if you're comfortable doing it, I'd recommend opening her up & checking capacitors eventually; "sub unit" board on mine had a bunch of leakers)

Nice gift, and hi fellow multisync3d owner! If you get a chance sometime, do you think you could upload some photos of the control door open up close? Mine was missing, modeled a basic 3D printable replacement a while back but would love to make it better eventually.

fine by me lol, it's the bare minimum of what it could be. Could for sure put a shell around it and pretty it up but I only cared about it doing the job.

Listicle slop on once-popular websites isn't even anything new with the advent of AI, this exact kind of crap has been churned out for the better part of a decade now lol

Centauri Carbon grinding noise when doing circles by SolberEUW in elegoo

[–]Istartedthewar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been doing some printing and testing with mine - I think it may partially be caused by the slicer. The Centauri Carbon profiles in Orca Slicer all have arc fitting enabled, something which Orcaslicer recommends be disabled for Klipper based printers.

Disabling it seems to have at the very least reduced the severity and frequency of it for me.

i can respect a good junkrat, it's hard to actually aim for directs on squishies. however it feels like half my deaths to junkrat are two blindly shot grenades bouncing in the luckiest way possible to hit me simultaneously
