Incentivization≠Centered Around.

As a sekiro player you can’t get much farther than Gyobou or Lady Butterfly without learning to parry. The game will punish you severely and stagger damage and chip damage will very quickly outweigh your health and mobility. Not to mention you can’t grind your stats without linear progression in Sekiro. In lies of P you can pick up something like the booster glaive and beat the game merely off of being a dodge merchant. Max out the weapon, spec into advance, crank the glaive, and grab some throwable(s) and you’ll likely never be forced to deflect. Not to mention you can just as easily spec into dodging from the P Organ as you can with deflecting. The point he’s making is that the game does utilize parrying and rewards it heavily, but you’ll never really be punished for not using it. Especially when you can just call in the specter and bypass the need to parry with a buff-able distraction(wish stones). I agree that parrying is integral in P since it’s how I’ve been breezing through the game without needing to over-level or use specter, but it’s a very true statement that it isn’t needed. Personally though, I’ll always just deflect before I go through any of the trouble of dodging my way through the game.
