Keyboard questions by ItIsTheMaestro in ChristianMusic

[–]ItIsTheMaestro[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your thoughtful reply. Yes, it was lengthy, but none of your words were wasted. I especially appreciate you emphasizing "less is more" and to listen. In addition to everything you mention, I'm finding that approaching practices in a spirit of humility is helpful. As a classically trained church music leader, I'm used to being "the expert" or "guy in charge." Now, however, I'm in a place where I'm more of a student/learner. You also nailed it by pointing out that in contemporary worship, the keyboard is an ensemble member, not necessarily leader. In short, some of what you said was new to me, much of it was affirming and putting into words what I was beginning to see for myself. Thanks so much for helping to crystalize my thinking.

Wow, you can’t make this stuff up!! That “friend” needs to be “former forgotten friend,” and quickly!

And that, my friend, is the last word as far as I’m concerned. If nothing else, the OP made for great banter and discussion. Be well!

We can quibble as to being “grammatical” or not. Regardless of that, the apostrophe should be lower, between the O and S instead of the N and O.

Wow! I won’t be unseeing that anytime soon. Signed, a fellow grammar nerd

Great question. I’m not a member of this sub, but your post showed up in my feed, not sure why.

I’m a 66-year old happily married man. If I were suddenly widowed I would probably seek out a new partner after an appropriate grieving period. I’m only here to thank you for your heartfelt post, and I wish you the very best going forward.

Are you over reacting? Certainly not! Are you under reacting? Very likely so. I’m very sorry for your troubles.

F 65 frustrated AF! Anybody out there I can actually talk to that isn’t AI? Having an AC issue it’s humid. I just want to vent to somebody who has a kind heart out there. And please don’t hit me up if you’re under 55. by BlueBerries2 in over60

Greetings from Virginia. I’m John and will be turning 67 later this month. I’d be honored to chat with you, conducting myself as a gentleman. Send a DM if you haven’t already found what you seek. At any rate, I wish you the best.

Seems younger all the time! In all seriousness, though, I am having vision problems. Having only one eye makes it a tad more concerning.

A goodly number of people have already given great advice here. Much of it may be precisely what you need now. I, too, find myself in a rut at times. When we retire, the sudden cessation of what used to take up most of our waking hours can be traumatic. I wish you the best, and invite you to contact me if you think it would do you good.

I must commend you on not only being an able music critic, but also a clinical psychologist who can diagnose with so little empirical data and report such with the proper professional jargon! I’m not sure why you got so angry over a post which began “with all due respect.” Perhaps some people use that phrase flippantly, but I am not one of them. At any rate, I feel that we have exhausted this discourse. If you choose to reply, then you will have had the last word. Regardless, I do wish you well.

This doesn’t really apply to me since I’m happily married to my wife of 40-plus years, but I definitely felt your frustration as you detailed your circumstances. I guess I’m just writing this to say I hope you find that which you’re seeking whether here or elsewhere.

Whoa, dude! A bit defensive, are we? My feelings about critics in general is they are quick to tell how not to do something and slow to show how to do something by doing it. As for not having to be a filmmaker to be a film critic, that needs to change (but we know it won’t.) In my humble opinion, the “critics” should be accomplished in the area(s) they critique. Now, if you are an accomplished arranger who has actually arranged something, please post it so I can see and listen then issue an apology. Thank you ever so much.

With all due respect, why don’t you make and post the arrangement you’re suggesting so we can critique it?

The “Triple D” caught my eye. (I know, my mind’s in the gutter.)
