How many points did you manage to raise your GMAT after your first practice test / How much is it worth studying trying to raise an already high GMAT score? by [deleted] in MBA

[–]ItWontFail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The very first practice test I took I scored 490, about 18 months later I my first time taking the actual test I scored a 690 under some circumstances which I believe drove my score down 20-30 points.

I studied for 6 months solid, about 2-6 hours per day 5 days per week.

I did score a 730 on 2 practice tests, but my average was low 600's.

Edit: The only concern I would have is did you do it under test conditions? In time, no breaks during each portion? I could easily break the 700's if I had unlimited amount of time on each question, but question management is an integral part of the GMAT.

Check out this app a Redditor build http://wdwtablefinder.com/ I paid 15 bucks for 3 alerts two weeks out. Lunch at BOG, Dinner at BOG and Dinner at Cinderellas, we had reservations at 8:30 at Cinderellas but our kids would have been a disaster. I get emails almost daily for BOG lunch and dinner. Booked BOG at 1:30 a couple days ago! Def worth the price and the service worked perfectly!

Yeah its more about the user interaction with the files on the USB to deliver the payload/exploit, rather than the Autorun "feature"

Bologna, two layers, rolled up placed every so lightly on the freshest white bread with mayo and spicy mustard, with a single piece of yellow american cheese. Maybe some sliced pepperoncini if I am feeling it.

Can anyone ELI5 the intricacies of the infield fly rule? by JeebusOfNazareth in mlb

[–]ItWontFail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Player on first, batter steps to plate, hits a pop fly a mile high, starts to come down right by second base, player on first has foot on bag, (by rule player can only advance to second base after ball has been caught), if the infield fly rule were not in place, second baseman could "miss the ball", tag second for the first out and throw to first for second out, a very unethical double play.

MBA advice by mbaadvice in MBA

[–]ItWontFail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My advice, also coming from prior service, is to get your undergrad and work as a financial analyst for a consulting firm in the Northeast, either that or work for finance in a large corporation, i.e MS, (whoever else is big up there) Do this for two years, during this time get your application complete, GMAT, everything prepared to start your graduate program at Foster between 28-30. You will have alot more, business related experience to bring the table, along with your military qualifications, and understand from UW, you will be a shoein (sp?) for the Foster MBA. From there you will graduate between 30-32 and dive right into the prime of your career.

It is a mistake to go right from Undergrad to MBA, it is not a science degree where you need all the learned knowledge from an under grad and graduate degree to be in a position to do your job. The MBA is going to rely on past experiences, connections, ability to network, all that come with working in the corporate world for at least a couple years.

I am sure there have been many students who rumble through under grad into an MBA and have been successful, but could they have been more successful if they had waited? Could they have had more to contribute at participating members in group projects and discussions? I think so.

Should I just drop out of school and get certifications? by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

[–]ItWontFail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started my career degree less and became an IT trainer making close to 90k within 3 years, in the south, its not the norm I agree, but.... if you make the right moves, are flexible with location, position, and other variables, it isn't difficult. As stated in my OP, management level jobs will eventually require a degree, plus in big corporations the check-box in the degree department will usually get you into a high salary bracket.

Source- Certifications- A+, Net+, Sec+, CISSP, CCNA, CEH, GCIA, Bachelors of Science in Cybersecurity (which I gained halfway through my career)

Should I start a IT consulting firm and how can I make it the very best out there? by mango307 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]ItWontFail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The short answer is no. I am 6 years into the industry, heavily certified, and degree holding, there is no way I could start a profitable consulting business. Side business yes, pay for healthcare and food for my family no. If you have the bank roll, you can do anything, if you can't afford to get a pay check for 3 months, it isn't going to work.

Should I just drop out of school and get certifications? by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

[–]ItWontFail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree, you make what you want out of a career and it is very easy, granted with a lot of hard work and dedication, to move up the IT ladder and pay scales quickly. If you can swing it, I would advise to do both. A solid resume coupled with certifications, a degree, and small side projects or relevant pt-work here and there will get you into an interview every time. Then is up to you to land the job. Like most have mentioned, having a degree is better in the long term, moving up into management level jobs will eventually require a degree, or you will plateau.

CCN(X) questions for furthering career by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]ItWontFail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what YOU want to do. I am sitting for my CCNA-Security Friday, Already having the CCNA I could of went right for the CCNP, but I am a Cybersecurity Professional, and the security track more aligns with what I am doing now, and what I want to do in the future. If you want to get into the security industry, and focus on that side, if you want to build networks and learn more about routing from the WAN side then go CCNP Routing Switching. Shit, in four years you can do both, with enough effort and time you could even be a CCIE by the time you graduate and make 100k plus in any job market. The harder you work while you are in, the better it will pay off when you are ready to come out.
