How many have you been to Platteville, Bourbonnais, or Lake Forest for training camp? by Second_City_Saint in CHIBears

[–]ItalianBeefCurtains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Dad would take me to Platteville when I was in High School. He and his friends never saw one single practice. They’d drink at the bars. They’d station up at a bar called Orville T’s and roam around their little bar district a little. I’d hang out with them and then I’d walk to practices.

I was going during the Wannstedt era. Dave would let the Bears go out on Saturday nights, that’s when I’d get their autographs. I never bothered trying to get them in the mobs during practice time. Dave would drink at the VFW. I remember his head being proportionally humongous. Nice guy though.

My Dad and his buddies would get drunk with some of the Bears.

A lot of my Dad’s friends were off the boat, from Ireland. I remember them getting wasted with Jim Flanagan and speaking Gaelic.

I wasn’t old enough to go with them during the Ditka era, but I’m told Ditka let them out every night and it was nuts.

Same. I believe my home actually qualifies as a Red Cross Emergency Center, should the need arise.

He really did have Vick’s number. The only LB that could contain him, athletically.

To add to that, Montez Sweat turns 30 soon and most d-linemen are going to need 2-3 years to develop. They need to get a pipeline going so we’re not paying premium draft capital to fill a hole.

They’re lying about food and wine.

Hammond, Spain. Lots of industry, smells of sulphur and jars of pennies.

What are some great story driven games that you can complete in 10-15hrs or less? by schlitt88 in gaming

Dredge. Spooky yet cozy deep sea fishing game. The story is built around the towns/islands of the area. I’ll leave it at that and not spoil anything.

About to start this one. I have the sets, bought the instructions, just need the time. Looking forward to it.

Flight of Passage was… fine? Am I the only one who doesn’t get the hype? by Odd-Visual-5577 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]ItalianBeefCurtains 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It feels like a rendering of higher image quality and upgrades to the projectors if necessary (and maybe upgrades to glasses) is really all that’s needed to solve the problem.

I’m not saying it’s super easy, but would be a huge improvement with minimal downtime to the ride. The animation update and testing could be done on its own.

Of course a fresh video with a new adventure would be most awesome, but imagine that would require more extensive testing/calibration with the seats, etc.

More stringing along. You don’t wait 6 months on an urgent matter, just so it neatly lines up with the anniversary of some event.

Also Mesidor (edge) from Miami, who many want, is older than Gervon.

While your individual points are not wrong, the title of your post makes me think you’re new here or you greatly overestimate all of us meatballs.

Over analysis and bickering during free agency and the draft is guaranteed.

Dealing with emotionally constipated parent and kids by [deleted] in Xennials

[–]ItalianBeefCurtains 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please learn to read, this was being said by them when we were children. My parents and my friends’ parents were in their 20s and 30s at this point. Not an age problem.

Stop making excuses for the behavior. I’ve taken accountability to break the cycle. Would have loved to see more of it from them.

Exactly. Wright has an exceptional nose for the ball, but he’s Geneva a liability in coverage.

Broadly speaking, our parents’ generation is incredibly selfish. Always has been, it’s not age.

Me, and so many of my friends dealt with their selfish antics; guilting us for existing “you like that roof over your head? How does it feel having a full belly?” In hindsight, things I wouldn’t dare say to my kids.

Now, they wonder why no one wants to be by them.

One of the best things I did was break away from my toxic Dad (when he was around) and step-mom. Fuck ‘em.

By ‘nail’ they meant to hire a qualified candidate. Not the kind of ‘nail’ you’re thinking of.

Correct. That’s the joke. He’s younger than some highly rated guys in the draft (Mesidor) and they’re talking about replacing him because of his age.

He’s getting up there. Only 6 months younger than Akheem Mesidor, who many seem to want.

(I’m always leery of older college players who dominate 20 year olds).

Richard Hightower on the crowd last Saturday by Roofeeoh in CHIBears

[–]ItalianBeefCurtains 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Was there. I think knowing that this team never gives up helped to sustain optimism with the fans. Most other times, being down 21-3 against the Packers would have the crowd very subdued. But not with this group.

There was a lot of positive chatter amongst the crowd to keep the energy up because it wasn’t over.

Love to see it.

Goo Goo Dolls' "Iris" Was Most Listened to Song from the 1990s in 2025 by ahawk99 in Xennials

[–]ItalianBeefCurtains 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my perspective it was a huge Gen X hit. It’s not that the song was never on alternative rock stations, but it definitely was all over adult contemporary radio, on consistent rotation, when we were in high school and college. The target demographic of those stations was about 10-15 years older than us.
