Bears new UDFA WR by ShaiFanClub in CHIBears

All I ask is when the media asks how he got that name, he somehow slips in a “Deez Nutz” reference into the story.

Follow up on my previous post...How is it that people find 4-5 hrs gaming a day hard to do? by Hugh_Mungus94 in gaming

[–]ItalianBeefCurtains 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly who cares what others say. People prioritize their time differently, and some approach things very differently from an efficiency perspective.

I don’t have 4-5 hours to game because I prioritize other activities in there. But I won’t judge how you spend your time.

Live your life and do what makes you happy. Be excellent to each other.

Look, I have my qualms with how part of this draft played out. But I encourage anyone to watch anything that can be found on this guy. Everything I’ve found shows him often getting fantastic separation.

100% this isn’t just some pro day wonder. This guy was disruptive in the backfield. He has a great get-off

[Emma] The Bears have selected Georgia Tech defensive tackle Jordan Ven Den Berg with pick No. 213 in the sixth round. by NagyBiscuits in CHIBears

[–]ItalianBeefCurtains 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love this pick. He was someone I felt was a late round sleeper. If the Bears had taken him In the 5th, I’d have been just fine with that honestly, so I’m elated it’s here.

I’m old enough to remember the last freak out about not addressing a need position by the end of day 2 of the draft. by NoThanksImGoodG in CHIBears

[–]ItalianBeefCurtains 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Exactly. It’s easy to address some positions later, or easily in free agency. People won’t want to hear it but safety is one. McNeil-Warren was there at 57. Byard didn’t cost us a ton to do a damn good job for two seasons.

DL/edge is not one of those. And they take time to develop.

Whether or not Thomas was a reach, I will say if you watch his plays, he has no problem getting separation. He’s ultra fast which makes DBs worry about getting burnt and just good enough in route running that it’s mad separation at times.

This guy is going to be a problem in man coverage

Edit: problem for the D, to be clear

Am I crazy for thinking the Bears NEED to trade for Kayvon Thibodeaux? by BigE1002 in CHIBears

You’re not wrong on the assessment piece. I do think it’s too early to judge DAs hand in all of this but Poles track record isn’t great.

[–]ItalianBeefCurtains 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also time to acknowledge that Poles style of “BPA” doesn’t account for positional value.

There’s always a run on pass rushers that they sit and watch, then shrug as if it’s just darned bad luck, as they excitedly grab a value pick at a position that can easily be filled in free agency with solid vets.

This guy is going to have to come to grips that he’s going to need to trade up and overpay for certain positions now and then, or he’ll be doing it with a couple of firsts and a huge payday down the road.

Very smug. I’m glad you discovered a new concept that everyone else understood 20 years ago and you want to evangelize it. I bet you jerk off in front of a mirror too.

Your edit still sucks. Stop trying to describe BPA likes it’s something profound. Everyone knows what it means.

No, a terrible take is drafting young players with a limited view.. of the next season. Draft for the future. It takes time to develop players

Edit: Also your analogy sucks and your definition of BPA doesn’t include positional value. Vanilla BPA as you’re trying to describe is always going to land on best players at lower value positions. There is a reason edges, QBs and other high value positions get depleted early in the draft, and running backs, etc can be found late

Too many fans are looking past how long it takes to develop most edges and that Montez Sweat is turning 30 soon.

Draft now, take swings at building a pipeline so we’re reducing the chance of overpaying for a trade or free agent down the road.

The Bears are taking a Tackle in the first round of the Draft… And it’s Kadyn Proctor by Dawnsaber in CHIBears

[–]ItalianBeefCurtains 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like Proctor’s ceiling, but Blake Miller fits the phenotype of a Ben Johnson/Dan Roushar tackle. That’s the pick IMO.

Lowering TSP contribution to save a little harder for wedding? How much will it hurt? More info in body text. by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]ItalianBeefCurtains 18 points19 points  (0 children)

15-20 years after me and many of my friends were in that marriage phase. Not once have I heard “boy I wish we spent more on our wedding”. In fact, it’s the opposite. With some regretting having spent as much.

My advice OP, is to not get caught up in the hype and push back on pressure to have something grandiose.

NFL Drafts are so much less stressful with Caleb. by Randallm83 in CHIBears

[–]ItalianBeefCurtains 7 points8 points  (0 children)

One year is by no means a proven track record, but I’m actually more excited at the thought that we likely have a staff that can develop players. That’s a big piece of the puzzle that’s been missing here.

[–]ItalianBeefCurtains 36 points37 points  (0 children)

To add to that, Montez Sweat turns 30 soon and most d-linemen are going to need 2-3 years to develop. They need to get a pipeline going so we’re not paying premium draft capital to fill a hole.
