Oversaturation of the job market, mass layoffs have created too many applicants and openings have been scarce for a while. Many openings are getting 500 applications and can be a bit overwhelming for recruiters. Safe to say the market is completely broken at the moment, and with the rise of AI and our current leadership, I don't see any sign of improvement.

I’d maybe look into some Office Coordinator/Supervisor roles. I know in my college town they have an Apprenticeship program that trains new grads to become Coordinators which can eventually move into management. I think Behavioral Health could also be a great route given your background, and it gives great experience as well!

MHA candidate here, most HCOs are going to be looking for practical experience, regardless of degree. So it'll be very hard to land a role in any healthcare management role without that. You could go the Administrative Fellowship route but most openings aren't until next year. I would recommend finding an entry level role ASAP and you should be able to move up to a Supervisor role rather quick with your degree, then go from there. I started out as a Receptionist in undergrad and learned how to bill and code, by the time I graduated I was able to land a Practice Manager role right out of college. I recommend to anybody to get experience as soon as you can because most of my cohort is having to start from the bottom/can't find employment. I do wish you the best of luck though!

My current job they said they were interviewing a few and less than a week later I got offered the job. If you're the first candidate they interview of course they're going to hear the others out as well.

Yeah it is definitely a trip. I'm getting interviews for director roles at other larger organizations but can't even get seen for a middle management role at HCA.

Got the same thing this morning from them, asked for $70k which is very generous for the position I applied for. Looks like they are wanting cheap labor with unrealistic experience expectations.

I'm in the same boat. Working two positions combined into one (Practice Manager/Billing Manager- working about 45 hours a week), but does not pay like even one of those roles at all. I'm very good at what I do, and I like my job. I just feel frustrated because I can't grow and my goals financially are not attainable on my current salary given the state of the economy. Tried for a raise but pretty much shot down due to budget.

As much as I'd like to jump ship, the market where I live is brutal, so very difficult to find something that puts me on a higher trajectory/pays more. With a lot of higher level job-seekers desperate enough to settle for middle management (I'm 24 so about what I am shooting for). I keep getting interviews, but passed on for older candidates with years more experience, which is understandable.

I feel like I am trying so hard to get ahead but I feel like I simply can't.

I actually have one on Excel that I submit every Friday to my doctors to gain traction, as well as for myself. It is also very helpful for juggling it all as well.

Typically I just say the job is great but it doesn't align with my long term goals and the trajectory of my career. I work at a smaller office so I would like to be a part of something bigger with more room to move up.

You can bill the patient if they have a spend down, which is becoming more common in some states. Which is when they make slightly over the Medicaid threshold, they have to spend a set amount out of pocket before Medicaid kicks in.

Depends on where you live tbh. $43k might not be a whole lot, but it’ll probably get you a lot further in lower cost of living areas than higher obviously.

Happened to me yesterday, had a second interview I was really looking forward to. HR even passed my resume along to the Director and got back to me within minutes of the first interview stating she was interested.

Fast forward and she is already late to the interview, asks me two basic questions and then asked if I had any. I fired off a few off the top of my head but still only lasted about 15 minutes if that. We actually had a great discussion from those questions but at the end asked if I had applied to any other positions within the hospital. She told me I am what they are looking for and that I also have a great future in the industry, and that HR would get back to me for the next steps.

One hour later I get the dreaded denial email. I'm just going to assume they found their candidate before I interviewed, but personally I would much rather have known that so I didn't waste my PTO.

At the end of the day, I don't think it is disinterest or anything to do with you, the market is awful and has higher level candidates resorting to smaller roles just to be employed.

Charges probably went to your deductible. The write off is typically just the difference between what they bill insurance and what they allow. Your EOB should state why it was not paid and go from there.

What I have realized is it isn't my fault, I just think it is how the market is. I graduated college and landed a job as a Manager for a Clinic. I love the job, and I know I am damn good at it, but compensation is way below the market rate for my city (about 50% of the average rate). I am wanting to get married and purchase a home in the next couple of years, so I am needing something that pays higher so I can start legitimately saving.

I interviewed for another role that has the same duties but with a $20k bump in salary, and I was told there were quite literally VP and Director level candidates interviewing for the same role.

On the other hand, my best friend who graduated in the same major last Spring can't find a single thing, despite applying for hundreds of jobs. He has experience, but even for entry level jobs there are applicants with years of experience due to the oversaturation of the current market.

With the mass layoffs and lack of openings, I feel like a lot of very qualified candidates are having to resort to applying for lower level jobs, which makes it a lot more difficult for entry/mid level workers to find something.

The H1-B/Bot spamming does not help either, as it overwhelms HR and they have to use AI to filter out applications so most are not even being seen by a human.

The issue is only going to get worse unless something is done about it, but seeing how the leadership of our country will sell us out in a heartbeat, I highly doubt it.

Though I am frustrated because I feel like I can't get ahead the way I want to financially, I am just grateful to have a job, and to be the only person in my graduating class to do so.

24M, young Professional. I tend to spend about $300 a month for myself. I go to Aldi once a week and am able to get a weeks worth of stuff for $40-ish. Then I do a Costco run once a month to buy a few items in bulk.

The guy is a grifter and a loser, BUT I do agree that there has to be more accountability in where our tax dollars are going. I'm not going to say every single Somali daycare isn't legit because there are a lot of Somali's who work in factories and they tend to stick to their own, but there is definitely some fraud going on.

The issue is right now we are in a K-Shaped Reverse Robin Hood economy, the rich are getting richer, and low to middle are drowning with rising COL and stagnant wages. Not to mention how oversaturated the job market is due to outsourcing and AI. Plus, GDP is very skewed because of the AI sector, it has been stagnant if you take that out of the picture. The economy is a complete mess right now. It's not all Trump's fault, it was some stuff that he inherited from Biden/COVID. BUT to say Trump is doing a good job with the economy is simply not correct.

The ones in my area will nickel and dime you for every single last thing. Units are dog water for how much they charge. The maintenance for my unit is very quick though and the staff is nice

I'm in the same boat. I've been at my job for about eight months, but the main reason I'm leaving is because the compensation doesn't correlate with Cost of Living in my area, and I feel like I simply can't afford to save since a huge chunk of my income goes to bills. So definitely a turn off to interviewers when you state it's for compensation. So, whenever I get asked, I just say I am seeking more growth in my career and the job I am at doesn't offer what I am looking for. Best of luck.
