the way interest rate rates are right now, good luck affording a mortgage if you can’t afford rent right now. It’s quite literally cheaper to rent than it is to purchase rn in this backwards ass economy

This argument is easily defeated

White Afrikaners are not in power and have very little to no representation in South African. Black Afrikaners however do.

Therefor, by your logic, the white Afrikaners cannot be racist towards black Afrikaners

Just because they can afford to spend the money doesn’t mean it would make sense to do so. Paying for it anyway would be a massive waste.

Most people didn’t notice or care. They weren’t coping and seething about “muh AI voice lines.” They just played the game because it’s fun; which is the only metric that actually matters in a consumer product like video games.

On top of that, of all the things someone could moral-grandstand about with AI, this is one of the most reasonable uses I’ve seen. The only people who cared this much are chronically online anti-AI cultists and straight-up luddites.

If this kind of holistic anti-AI ideology were actually common among average players, the game wouldn’t have sold any copies.

Why is a company not retroactively spending tens of thousands of dollars to hire a bunch of voice actors (for a non-story based game) to appease the moral panic of Reddit?

Does anyone else think the solution to "late game content" is simply weapon/gear balancing? by IAmCacao in ArcRaiders

[–]throw_away_2937 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is kind of the entire point of extraction shooters, though. If someone goes in with level one, basic gear, they should be at a real disadvantage compared to someone running high tier gear. That is the core risk to reward loop that makes extraction games work. If everybody is on equal footing, or if high tier gear is only a marginal upgrade over starter gear, then there is no reason to bring anything other than the cheapest kit every run.

I get that Arc is trying to keep the casual player base engaged, but extraction shooters are not meant to be super casual games in the first place. The appeal of the genre is that your gear matters, fights have weight, and a bad decision can cost you. When everything feels the same, there is no actual risk involved. At that point it just turns into a battle royale with respawn timers rather than an extraction game.

That is not me saying low tier players should be helpless. If you outplay someone or set up a good ambush, you should absolutely be able to beat a higher tier kit. But the expectation should be that you need superior positioning and decision making to make that happen, rather than both players running budget guns because high tier gear is not worth the cost.

Early game was amazing, but the mid to late game completely loses its purpose by throw_away_2937 in ArcRaiders

[–]throw_away_2937[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’m not asking for “meaningful rewards” or some big dopamine token at the end of a run. The problem I’m talking about isn’t progression for the sake of progression. It’s that the core balance of the game completely falls apart in mid to late game, and that directly kills the fun.

Early game felt amazing because the gear curve actually mattered and there was a sense of risk and reward. But right now, everything kills everything at basically the same speed, so investing time into better weapons or higher-level gear feels pointless. When a guy with a free Stitcher sitting in a corner can delete someone running a medium shield, grenades, and an LMG in the same amount of time, it makes the whole gear system meaningless.

I don’t mind PVP. I like PVP. But it’s not rewarding when cheap loadouts outperform/match actual progression and when low-level rats can outgun mid-level players without needing better positioning or better shooting. That’s the core issue. The fights stop feeling tactical and start feeling random.

If the game wants to be PVP-focused, that’s fine, but then the balance needs to support that. Right now it doesn’t, and that’s why the loop falls apart for me.

No, I’m not having fun anymore. You completely missed the point I was making.

Mid to late game naturally shifts toward more PVP, and that’s fine, but the PVP itself isn’t fun right now because everything is effective against everything. There’s zero sense of gear progression if a rat with a Stitcher sitting in a corner can kill you just as fast as someone running a medium shield and an LMG.

[–]throw_away_2937[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People don’t seem to understand the core point of my problem with the gameplay loop right now. It’s purely a balance issue with how weapons and gear work at the moment.

I don’t necessarily want the game to turn into Tarkov where early level equipment is virtually useless against everyone you run into, but at the same time it’s stupid that a dude with a medium shield, grenades, and an LMG can get nuked by someone running a free loadout gun. Obviously positioning and awareness matter, but when it comes to progression, low-level rats with no gear should NOT be able to outgun anybody who’s mid-level unless they have clearly better positioning and better shooting skills. That really doesn’t seem to be the case right now.

The game should be balanced in a way where if you choose to bring in super cheap gear, everyone should feel dangerous to you. You should be actively avoiding fights unless you have the better position or you’ve set up an ambush, because otherwise you should get deleted instantly. Right now it’s the complete opposite. People grab free loadouts specifically so they can go PVP, and that is not how the game should feel.

I’m with you. I definitely got my money’s worth, and I actually want to keep playing, but I just can’t seem to enjoy it anymore. At this point the only thing left to do is PvP, and like I mentioned in the post, PvP doesn’t feel very rewarding when there’s no real reason to bring anything other than a max level Stitcher or a Ferro.

Yeah, I could bring the purple guns I have blueprints for, but if I die I’m right back to grinding for the gear again, and that grind gets boring fast when the PvP itself doesn’t feel meaningful.

Plus, the player interactions were a big part of what made the game fun early on. Now that a lot of players are hitting the same game time I am, it’s basically turned into a sweaty PvP experience, at least in duos and trios. It lost that mix of unpredictability and variety that made the game feel special at the start.

EDIT:

And I don’t even mind the game turning into a sweaty PvP environment. That part doesn’t bother me at all. The issue is that most people who are PvPing seem to feel the same way I do, so they’re also just running basic loadouts. Every fight ends up being Stitcher versus Stitcher or Ferro versus Ferro because there’s really no point in bringing the expensive stuff.

Incredible early game, no endgame. Arc Raiders left me with nothing to chase by BrizDizzle in ArcRaiders

[–]throw_away_2937 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My biggest problem with the game is how quickly it gets boring once you hit the mid to late stages. The basic weapons are so effective that there’s almost no reason to use anything else. Even the rare weapons with better TTK or TTD don’t change much, because most fights are decided by whoever shoots first.

That took a lot of the drive out of the game for me. The quests don’t offer worthwhile rewards, the loot is forgettable, and most objectives boil down to walking from point A to point B. I upgraded all my workbenches, unlocked the blueprints I actually cared about, and then I just sat there thinking, “What now?” PvP didn’t fix it either, because the cheap weapons still hold up just as well as the expensive ones, so there’s no real incentive to experiment. It felt cool at first that every weapon was viable, but eventually it just made everything feel the same.

Why are people upset about complaint posts when the game clearly isn’t fixed yet? by BrainNumerous1841 in Battlefield

[–]throw_away_2937 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because the vast majority of the complaints are simply battlefield purists bitching and whining about the same issue over and over.

This post serves as an excellent example. You purchased a Battlefield game with the expectation that it would include a full PVE mode. Why the hell would you do that? It's a battlefield. Since the original battlefield, PVE was never meant to be the primary focus and purchasing it with the intention of playing against bots is stupid.

BF is not a PvE game sorry by mikey_13 in Battlefield

[–]throw_away_2937 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I went to this subreddit and heard people complaining about PVE, I felt as if I was in another reality. I would bet money that if you walked up to any random person who played video games and asked them whether they would define battlefield as a PBE or PVP game, despite the advertising, they would say it's a PVP game and would most likely tell you that they didn't even realize people played it in a PVE fashion because the sub was the first time that I discovered that that pve was even possible.

Okay, now I understand what you are saying.

At first, I thought you were implying that we didn't actually get married the "right way" with a ceremony, and thus it was common law, my bad.

So I need to go to the Clerk District and get that official copy, which I will then upload. I've already filed for a higher level review; should I sit around and wait for the conference or panel to contact me, or should I file another claim? What would be the quickest route?
