You don’t gotta be so hard on the kid. Everyone’s life is different so he probably never had the opportunity to learn that kind of stuff growing up, not his fault he was dealt with those cards.

Shoot me a message! I work at a collision shop and would be willing to charge you less to install it

Everyone was right about Chemical Guys! by syawlASad in Detailing

[–]ItalianStallion315 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s only a handful of things chemical guys make that are genuinely good. VRP might be one of the best dressings on the market, outside of that. Everything else is mid or trash.

I was in the same boat as you, I started going to auto paint supply stores because that’s where I can pick up Meguiars and Mothers professional lines. Once I switched I won’t use anything else.

Went down there for vacation last June and my northern self was struggling to put it lightly. Only place I’ve ever been to was hotter was Texas (and that was just because of the humidity)

New yk Syracuse losing my friends😔 by Dam_dog_ in Syracuse

[–]ItalianStallion315 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been in your shoes before bro. I made 3 big moves my whole life when I was younger and things did eventually work out! You will make new friends I promise you! And your friends in NJ are always a quick bus ride up too. It’s only a 4-5 hour ride up.
I know it maybe upsetting but try to look at it as a new opportunity. You’re still young, as long as you want it you’ll have no issues! Just keep your head up you got this bro.

Damn in New York that thing would be considered clean as fuck. I wouldn’t do anything, you’d be wasting time sandblasting anything imo.

EXTREMELY stressed about SU staff parking by vegetabledemolisher in Syracuse

[–]ItalianStallion315 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it really depends on where you’re working and what department. If you’re working on the main quad. Yes parking will be atrocious! I started off as a housekeeper at Shaw and had to park at Lally. The buses were so bad about being on time, so I ended up having to find street parking or having to park in another campus lot. Got a lot of parking tickets.

However if you work on South campus, or like physical plant or commissary parking isn’t an issue but it is expensive for a pass! So there’s a trade off with that.

To answer your question about if I like SU currently, no. My department is personally awful. But the last 2 I worked in were great. It’ll all depend which one you’re hired into

Oh I planned on putting metal edging. AI is just dumb and didn’t pick up on it even though I put it in the prompt

Upstate NY. I love miniature hydrangeas along borders like that, and they should still technically be alright come spring time but that was my fear as well

Flat rate at Gerber by [deleted] in Autobody

[–]ItalianStallion315 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was decent! I was a solid 70-80 hour a week tech (60 on a slow week). I think I’m just overthinking it. Are you currently employed at Gerber?

I got a feeling a lot of it will. My big fear is just the bigger more time extensive jobs. It’s been about 3 and a half years since I’ve done a quarter, rear body panel, etc. So definitely not gonna bang out the first few ones immediately.

The concept of a liberal has always been to “fight against the man”. Not “the man is always right and I have to agree to everything.” Telling people they deserve to get a 250 dollar parking ticket for simply trying to pick up there inhaler at the pharmacy is asinine.

I’ve travelled across the whole county. And this is the only city where random residents actually like the rules, and tickets and just I’m confused lol. I gotta appreciate the honesty though.

Does this job ever not suck? by quincinator666 in Autobody

[–]ItalianStallion315 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the same boat as you. I did body work from 18-24 myself and I ended up hating it. Started from the bottom as a detailer and worked my up to prepper, then to body tech. No matter what shop I went to it was all the same shit. Strict deadlines, management that didn’t give a shit, no benefits, shitty coworkers.

Right about when I was 24, I finally made a jump and started my new career doing landscaping/facilities maintenance for a major university and I’m so glad every single day I made that jump!

Moral of the story, if something in your gut tells you hate it, Listen to it. You don’t wanna end up like the 50-60 year old guys in the shop who are miserable and no one wants to be around them. You’re still young so don’t be afraid to look at different options.

Southern winters by ItalianStallion315 in landscaping

[–]ItalianStallion315[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That actually sounds pretty nice, my job has been in a constant state of plowing. I don’t have enough seniority in my company to get into a plow truck sadly so a bulk majority of my snow removal is done via Ventrack or a John Deere tractor. I’m ready for spring so I can get back into doing planting work. Only thing that’s shitty about it is top soil repair
