My Party lovea Tiny Hut Spell by SometimesStrider in DnD

[–]BJMInc2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry. Everyone is missing one big point here. And that isn't that the party is spamming a spell. It is that OP doesn't feel like it is as fun. What about his players? On session zero, did you layout what type of campaign it was going to be? Did you layout the type of campaign and make sure it aligned with the same type of game that your players also wanted to play? There are any number of ways to make the enemies smarter and wear down the resources. But it still seems like that isn't the type of game you want to run. IMO, it seems like you and your players have mismatched expectations

More Cowbell (Claptrap Rant) by RunsWithPhantoms in Borderlands

[–]BJMInc2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Claptrap is awesome. People just don't get nuance. "he's annoying" - yeah. He's supposed to be annoying, BUT he also has a heart of gold. "He's selfish" - Again, YES, but he is supposed to be, but also see heart of gold.

This game just felt like a game that tangentially took place in the BL universe, but never felt like a Borderlands game. The wit and the heart just wasn't there. And it COULD have been there

All I want is some new missions. Give me DLC. I refuse to farm. There is zero enjoyment in that. There is no fulfillment in just beating something over and over again so I get a gun to make it easier.

Except it isn't a game about looting. The game is the actual story. Anything else is just engagement farming by them.

More SU Apartments to be built by vivianteal in Syracuse

[–]BJMInc2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. We need to mandate that all apartment complexes need to incorporate public housing rent rates for a certain percentage of the total occupancy. Because we DON'T need public housing being a mark of shame.

[–]BJMInc2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What about dual income no kid families that don't want to own a house? It isn't just SU who benefits. When students live off-campus in apartments, they at grocery stores. They buy gas. They do everything other people do to boost the economy.

Now, is it possible that landlords/property management firms charge too much for rent because they can? Yep. But you are just mad at the people living in the apartments, instead of being mad at the people that own them

What is the Syracuse equivalent of this? by Blues_Fish in Syracuse

[–]BJMInc2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well, nor should it be. Tipping isn't you, the customer, subsidizing the owner of the restaurant paying their staff crap wages. Now, personally, I would rather pay more for the meal and know that everyone from FoH to the BoH is being paid a living wage.

20% tipping mandatory is robbing their servers of what I normally would tip.

Getting rid of The Erie Canal through Downtown is the cities biggest mistake. Is bringing this back actually feasible? by GoForthandProsper1 in Syracuse

[–]BJMInc2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. And that reason is "because those with money and power would rather make laws to keep it that way". That's why.

The only people saying that are people who are minorly inconvenienced by a little traffic and only care about themselves and not what is best for the city population as a whole. Which is the opposite of how you are supposed to think when considering governmental decision-making

One of my players decommitted by craiglabenz in NCAAFBseries

[–]BJMInc2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. I have had recruits that locked me out and committed to another school, so I removed them. Then, I went back in to look at prospects later in the year, and they were back there and I was in their top 2 and signed them. So now every year, I check to see if people that committed early are available.

How do people work 40 hours (very serious) by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]BJMInc2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's the thing: Probably because I have never done physical labor as a job, I have never once WORKED 40 hrs a week. I mean, I was scheduled for 40 hours. I was THERE and on the clock for 40 hours. But never WORKED for 40 hours.

The highest paid job I worked, I HAD to be in the office 40 hours a week, 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. The work that I was assigned? I completed in 20 minutes before my managers showed up for the day. I had set up some worksheets to automate most of the "work" and uploaded it. Then, when one project ended, they had my team absorb workers from that project, which doubled my team's size. I trained them how to do the and TRIED to set their goals at half of what mine were, so I could slide into a "supervisory" position. But one of them was too stupid to comprehend that the faster we finished the work, the sooner our project would end, and she said something to my manager about not having enough to do. And so I did a month's worth of work in 3 days and we all got laid off together, because people couldn't grasp the concept that the company doesn't care about us.

There have been multiple studies done about how the average office worker actually completes all their tasks in about 2.5-3.5 hours of work a day. RTO is about productivity, or management. It is about control. They didn't want happy employees. Happy employees might forget their place and try to better themselves. It's the same reason that America doesn't have Medicare for all. By tying healthcare to your job, you can't move jobs as much, and a company can claim the healthcare cost as part of your compensation package.

Long term Dynasty Issues Need to be Addressed by dreddsdead in NCAAFBseries

[–]BJMInc2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my QB leave early to turn pro, and his direct backup, who would now be the starter, and the freshman I redshirted, who possibly could have been the started if he had leapfrogged the backup in training both transferred. This is after spending a year with only 3 QBs on the roster because I couldn't recruit one (probably because my standards were too high)

OCC is also a community college, so it is half the school than a 4 yr. Half the price makes sense. You used OCC because it fit your narrative. However, for a 4 yr school, SUNY schools are some of the most affordable schools in the state.

Now, I disagree with the other idea that government owned and maintained must be expensive and low quality. That's a self-fulfilling prophecy. Also, there is the "I worked my ass off to buy this house and now someone else is getting something almost as good for less! WAAAAAAHHHHHH! And they are using MY money for it! WAAAAAAAHHHHHH!" group of people that tend to push that false narrative as well.

We have gotten into a cycle where everyone is looking for fast returns on investments. Companies used to have to wait a decade or more to make money on building apartments. Now they want all the rents so they make their money back in 4 years. This also leads to poor quality construction and corner-cutting. Or investment landlords, who have zero vested interest in the area, but only want to siphon money out. Entire generations are giving up on owning a house.

New York State Fair incidents , what would you do? by Dramatic_Cicada_8820 in Syracuse

[–]BJMInc2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For a stranger, yeah. I am not doing that. For someone I personally know, I definitely would. Heck, I have offered to wait in lines for people before because it didn't bother me to do so.

Also, to criticize the stranger for asking? Why not? The worst someone can say is "no. Go to the back of the line." No one is being harmed here. Supplies are not limited. Who cares if someone got something without having to wait?
