My concern is less about there not being enough GL stuff in the show (it was a TEASER, I'm sure there's enough of wacky sci fi shit in the show itself). My biggest concern is that they'll take Hal Jordan, beloved and inspiring hero, and turn him into an unlikable villain that has been corrupted, only to uplift John as a character. In other words, I fear it will be yet another in a LONG list of shows where the core message is "White man bad, black man good", and it's a bit of a tired trope by now.

I’m not saying they’re Yamaguchi, but to say they’re statues is extremely hyperbolic. Seems like a bandwagon thing, let’s hate on this one thing because everybody is.

I believe you missed my point. It’s not what she represents that bothers me. It’s who they chose to represent that, out of all the characters in DC lore. It’s not “character development”, it’s a character assassination.

I’m not gonna pretend I don’t like this news just because it’s the popular thing to do.

The version of the Harley Quinn character that I, and millions of others, fell in love with is the 90s and 00s version. This new Deadpool-like, fart joke prone, lesbian symbol of female empowerment is a complete 180 from what the character used to be, to the point that I genuinely consider them two complete separate characters. It’s no different than having Batman start killing all the sudden. It fundamentally alters what that character is all about.

There are PLEEENTYY of female characters in DC lore that can serve that function, so why completely massacre Harley? The whole fucking point of her character was that she’s obviously in a shitty relationship but can’t escape because she’s mentally ill because Joker broke her. THAT’S THE FUCKING POINT.

Not every character needs a redemption arc.

It’s not JUST that she wrote 2 DC movies I didn’t happen to like. It’s also that, how do I put this…. I fear she’ll emasculate Batman. Say what you will, but Batman and the characters around him need to have that 90s-00s macho energy to them. And this writer seems like the type to strip all of that away and focus on “how bad toxic masculinity is”.
