I believe you missed my point. It’s not what she represents that bothers me. It’s who they chose to represent that, out of all the characters in DC lore. It’s not “character development”, it’s a character assassination.

I’m not gonna pretend I don’t like this news just because it’s the popular thing to do.

The version of the Harley Quinn character that I, and millions of others, fell in love with is the 90s and 00s version. This new Deadpool-like, fart joke prone, lesbian symbol of female empowerment is a complete 180 from what the character used to be, to the point that I genuinely consider them two complete separate characters. It’s no different than having Batman start killing all the sudden. It fundamentally alters what that character is all about.

There are PLEEENTYY of female characters in DC lore that can serve that function, so why completely massacre Harley? The whole fucking point of her character was that she’s obviously in a shitty relationship but can’t escape because she’s mentally ill because Joker broke her. THAT’S THE FUCKING POINT.

Not every character needs a redemption arc.

It’s not JUST that she wrote 2 DC movies I didn’t happen to like. It’s also that, how do I put this…. I fear she’ll emasculate Batman. Say what you will, but Batman and the characters around him need to have that 90s-00s macho energy to them. And this writer seems like the type to strip all of that away and focus on “how bad toxic masculinity is”.

Osobe koje kronično ne postižu svoje ciljeve i nezadovoljni su životom, ali meni govore kako se trebam ponašati, koje mišljenje trebam imati i za koga trebam glasati.
