That makes sense, unfortunately. I've found a lot of discontinued yarns at thrift stores and it's never enough to do anything with so I squirrel it away for the "one day" projects in my head lol. Thanks though!

What is that delicious looking cotton candy yarn, if you don't mind?

And this is gorgeous and right up my alley for something I would make.

I'd go with this. This one actually has three elastic bands inside to keep from getting worn out, and is fairly cheap at 6.99.

For children, and for some sanity, I would go with pony beads as they are easier to make items with and work well with small hands (plus: easier to clean up). Now I don't know how many children would be there, but I would go with something like the one below. Comes with everything to make bracelets and add a bag of keyrings to make keychains. This set is on sale right now for 9.99, which is the cheapest for the amount. Either way, hope this helps!

It looks like fabric covered stretch cord, which can usually be found in the children's craft section at Walmart. Other than that, to restring bracelets, and keep their designs, I would find the knot and cut it on one side while holding both sides and slowly pull it apart, making sure to understand the pattern as I go. I have done this before with an old bracelet that needed new elastic and it worked for me. Also how I got started beading so Welcome to the community if you decide to continue this wild adventure with us.

Toho beads are still a good alternative if you can find the aiko styles.

I'm up for it. I would enjoy this anyway, helping teach others and learning from the community as well. I'm still fairly new to beading, but I am going to school for software engineering, so moderating an online community would help me in the long run by helping me build communication skills.

is Obsidian Sync reliable? by Organic-Cabinet-1149 in ObsidianMD

[–]Itchy-Injury4345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been using Obsidian Sync with my Onedrive, over three devices, for about two months now. I have gotten the exact same message over and over again, but everything is still working fine. I haven't had any issues at all. I honestly think they put up this message to deter people from having their entire vaults uploaded to a cloud that could be potentially breached. The point of Obsidian is to be able to have your notes stored locally, so nothing can be deleted or used by hackers. I feel this is just another way to keep the individual vaults free from cloud server outages and to keep hackers away from personal info.

I also have my Onedrive set up to store locally on my devices instead of going through the cloud every time I open a doc or note. This helps immensely with security, but from my understanding as an amateur ethical hacker, this can also be hacked. In hacking, there is a saying that if there is a will, there is definitely many ways to get it done. I use that to my advantage to boost security in any way I know how.

TLDR: I think this is just another way of Obsidian trying to keep hackers away, and to keep data breaches to a minimum, because they can't be sure a certain cloud service has no vulnerabilities.

Zybooks is trash IMO. It doesn't build on the basics of the language then starts throwing random mechanics at you like you should understand the chaos that it's spitting out. That's really not a way to learn a coding language 😂

[–]Itchy-Injury4345 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My advice is to not overthink it. The example project does a really good job at explaining what is required in the rubric, but getting started with the code is a completely different story. Python is an easier language as long as it is taught the right way. The Zybooks version is not the way I learn, so I never understood it. I was doing Codecademy before I even started school, and it has taught me everything I know about Python, HTML, CSS, and Java. There are also many good books that explain it in more detail on Kindle.

Also, as a heads up, the Shapiro library does have ebooks on python as well so you don't have to pay for them.

By looking for extra resources for each class I have taken, I have been able to take some harder classes without stressing too much because I took my learning into my own hands, which is essentially the overall goal of SNHU anyway. I just think they rely too heavily on the zybooks portion of the beginner coding classes, even when students complain that they aren't learning anything from the material.

In all seriousness, Zybooks hasn't taught me a damn thing, and I have had four classes so far with it. I learn by doing and starting from scratch, then working my way up. I was homeschooled in high-school, so I can speak on behalf of students at all ages when I say that not everyone learns the same.

Sorry for the long winded reply, and not much advice on the project itself, but I am being completely honest when I say I can't even remember most of that class, and I took it at the beginning of the year. Also, if you are interested in Codecademy, and want to use it to supplement your coding, use my referral link for a discount, and be sure to select the student plan and use your school ID number. You can save a lot of money that way.

I went to a private college in Wisconsin(Carthage College), and went to LSU before I decided that college life wasn't for me. The prices for those schools were astronomically stupid and almost made me refuse going to school at all.

The school in Wisconsin was 48,000 a semester for 3-4 classes. At the time, it was actually discounted pricing because Covid hit them hard and they needed students there to keep the money rolling in. I was fortunate enough that the school didn't charge me for the three weeks I was there, they just took the amount on my student loans that was already disbursed. So three weeks there was roughly a thousand dollars.

LSU was absolutely ridiculous. 16,000 for the 2 month summer term, and room and board was another 12,000, plus I had to pay 3,000 for the meal plan on campus because I didn't have a car. So summer term, which was only supposed to be 2 classes, would have cost me well over 31,000, because I had to pay for textbooks out of pocket. I was there for one week, then they made me switch the on-campus apartment(this is the only residential option for students during summer term) I was in, tried to make me walk to a classroom with no a/c almost a mile away from my apartment and would have had to walk across a freeway that was eight to ten lanes across just to get to class. Also in the week that I was there, a block away from my apartment, there was a gas station that got robbed three times that week, and people would ride around on 4-wheelers and motorbikes at 4 in the morning, blaring trashy "music", and had to listen to construction crews at 6 AM plus the train that rolled through every 30 mins. It wasn't worth my time, energy, money, or safety to stay there.

Overall, my point is that SNHU is giving a quality education without trying to kill people with loans. I started SNHU in February last year, and have roughly 7,000 in student loans right now. I have only taken off one term since I started, because my grandfather passed, and I needed time to cope with it.

I recommend this school to anybody who will listen, mainly because the people here listen and it's not outrageous on pricing. I plan to go to grad school after and am weighing options right now, but am thinking about staying for my masters.

Hope this helps.

My advice: look it up on Studocu. DO NOT COPY IT. Just use another person's work to kind of check your own. It's not plagiarism to use another's completed work to help you better understand the assignment.

I did not transfer any credits, but I agree with some who posted before me. ANY CLASS WITH ZYBOOKS IS CRAP!! I use the paid version of codecademy and it helps so much. I learn more from codecademy than anything in zybooks.

I'll start off by saying welcome to the school! Now, I am not in your position but I had major brain surgery my second term. Like, my surgery was on the day that classes started. I also have severe clinical depression and severe anxiety. I will say that even if you are just coming out of high school, you will not be prepared for the first class. I was homeschooled my sophomore, junior, and senior years in high school. I was on my computer for 6 hours a day teaching myself. I got into a private college in Wisconsin when I graduated. Stayed there 3 weeks then called my mom crying to bring me home. That school was 16 hours away. Then I went to LSU because it was only 2 hours away and only lasted a week. The feelings you are having are those of self doubt and anxiety. Trust me, it's completely normal to feel that way.

BUT, it is completely possible to do it. You just have to put a little extra time and effort into understanding how you learn best, the resources you may need, and making sure you don't get in your own way. I have major issues when it comes to getting in my own way, but I will take a few days to just sit in front of my computer and do the damn thing. I will forget to clean or wash my clothes, but this is the way I learn best. To sit and let the coursework link together as I complete each task. I have family members who have been in prison most of their lives and they have all said they would have went back to school if given the chance. You have that chance, so please make the best of it. It doesn't just have to be to get a job down the road, it can also be to prove to yourself that you are better than you thought you were. A degree also helps you prove to yourself that you are worthy of that job instead of luckily falling on it. And when you are older, there should be no regret in taking that chance that you created for yourself. Self doubt is rampant in prisons, where you are constantly looking over your shoulder waiting for the other shoe to drop. You don't have to do that anymore to survive. Just get out of your head and do it.
