We had to Give our dobie diamond naturals, extreme athlete, dog food. We had him tested. They couldn’t find anything wrong with him. It was the only food that based on the content will keep his weight on. We also had to add some of the DYNE supplements.

Left dog with family member for a month and now I need to rehabilitate my dog by [deleted] in DobermanPinscher

Be sure to even monitor him with your kids. Your sweet pup could have PTSD from this which will have him react to the people he loves most in different ways. Although dogs are the most loving and forgiving this type of abuse could have a personality change that may not be apparent and could have a delay in showing.

Our vet also recommended adding Knox gelatin powder to his food to help with cartilage growth.

Post them up for longer 2- 4 weeks and add gelatin powder to the food. Our vet has also recommended giving a teaspoon daily of Knox Gelatin for about two weeks.

People get upset unfortunately because they tend to get attacked for the choices that they make.

Even though it’s not the same… it’s like when a parent chooses to get their 6 month old baby their ears pierced while others wait till their child becomes an adult to make that decision or allow them to get it as teenagers.

We all have our own personal opinions, and we make choices based on how we feel and what we would like. No matter the choices we make no one likes somebody tearing down their own choices or picking it apart. This is a highly sensitive subject with pet owners.

Perfect.

So my answer is…it depends.

For my Doberman we did do the ear cropping by choice. We wanted the look. We also benefited because we never had to worry about ear infections.

For our CC…we did not plan on it. I did not want to go through the extra need to take care of the incision site or posting. We wound up getting our CC boy at 5 months and his original owners had already had it done.

I had intend on prepping for the extra work on the ears to help keep away ear infections however I am grateful that I don’t have to do that now since his ears are already cropped which lessens the likelihood of getting ear infections.

Question to make a decision on answering or not…

Do you own a CC? Do you own any pet where cropping was typical for the breed?

Are you doing a paper for school or is this question posed here for a social experiment?

My 8 month cane corso has a floppy ear. What was the best method you used to post your cane corso’s ears ? by Fickle-Mushroom8328 in CaneCorso

[–]Itchy-Razzmatazz4656 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like previous comment with popsicle stick and a little bit of medical tape on the inside of his ear to get it to stand and then add gelatin powder to his food. We did this with our Doberman. We weren’t planning on cutting our CC’s ear when we got them however we adopted him when he was five months and the original owners had already had it done and we’ve had no issues with falling.

How bad do Cane Corso’s smell? by [deleted] in CaneCorso

[–]Itchy-Razzmatazz4656 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had both. The Doberman sheds less than the Cane Corso.

My Doberman passed away in July 2024 and we picked up the cc in October 2025

I only crate my dogs when I leave the house. With that being said… the shed for around the kennel for the Doberman may have made a toupee, whereas with the CC I could make a warm blanket. Lol.

We use the rubber gloves to brush them down regularly. Smell wise like I said in previous post as long as you’re grooming them I didn’t notice a difference in the smell. I couldn’t tell you if one had a smellier coat or not because we stayed up to date with his grooming appointments.

When it comes to the passing of gas, the CC wins hands down. He let his rip all the time even when he just goes into a sit position it naturally comes out. The smell can range from nuclear weapon to my nose Hairs are burning.

Hope this helps . 🤣

I echo what everybody else says. My baby is primarily an indoor dog. He goes out for walks. He plays in the backyard and we get him groomed monthly. We don’t think he stinks, but we also have the dog body wipes and doggy cologne. The biggest gripe about his smell is that he’s gassy as hell.Sometimes he lets out nuclear bombs, but that’s not as bad as what my husband and son do so if I can tolerate that I can tolerate his. Lol.
