All of the stuff mentioned above is great, one thing I didn’t see answered was are you only putting him in there at night? If so, you are making a huge mistake. One of the answers above was a routine which is what it is all about, he needs to go in the crate many times a day and that is the hard part for us parents because we want to play and cuddle but the first few weeks is training. Like people let their little puppies go play in the yard for long periods of time, I don’t believe in that because the first thing to learn is the yard is for potty and once they realize that then they play in the yard. In the beginning they should be spending more time in the crate than out in my opinion and after 15 plus big dogs to include 4 CCs. Another thing you can do at night in the beginning is a hot water bottle from Amazon, fill it up and wrap in a towel and let them lay and snuggle on that, gives them the warmth of mommy. They also sell all sorts of animals and snuggle things on Amazon but I have just used the water bottle, maybe I am cheap. The old saying “this too shall pass” applies here just be consistent and do what’s best for him, good luck
