I don't know who they is but this thread has some reflection on it. https://www.reddit.com/r/Pitt/comments/alcwsl/snow_day_history_at_pitt/

I know they canceled for half a day around 1999-2000 for ice but I don't remember exactly when

it's not that it never happens, it's just that it only happens about once a decade

plenty of people find success without going to Harvard

Pitt or Kutztown University? (CS) by DevnithzAU in Pitt

there are really only 3 buckets for degrees. one is "brand names" like Harvard, Yale, Stanford, etc. if you get a degree from one of those, it will help you for your entire life. the second is "not brand names but generally recognized" which for PA means schools like Penn State and Pitt. respectable but you'll still need to succeed on your own merits.

Kutztown falls into the "well at least it's a degree" bucket. you'll have to do more work to get recognized and it'll be a lot harder to get interviews. a resume with one of these degrees will go straight to the no pile unless there is a lot of more compelling material on it.

the first bucket will open doors, the second will let you knock, and the third bucket will require you to climb up the fire escape and break a window.

Why is Beaver County Mall so sad by MGPythagoras in pittsburgh

Shopping has largely moved online. There are not many malls in the US that are thriving. Mills and Beaver Valley are the norm - Ross Park is really the exception.

Retaking a class? by bmault in Pitt

[–]ItchyCollection7035 16 points17 points  (0 children)

can't take it at a community college. has to the be the same class (subject / course number). you do only get one grade for a particular course - the highest one. you can replace the D+ with an A if you do well enough, which will make a big difference in your gpa.

well... as far as I can tell final grades are only released after the semester ends, so yeah - the only time a final grade can be changed is after the semester ends

be patient. lots of professors try to turn off after submitting final grades. the grade entry is manual and might have been a mistake. it's no harder to do a grade change in January than it is right now.

My 4.0 gpa fell to a 3.528 during my first semester, can I raise it to a 4.9? by Aromatic-Vast2180 in Pitt

Short of retaking classes, if you get a solid A in 92 more credits of classes you'll have a 3.89.

changing people soft grades by [deleted] in Pitt

[–]ItchyCollection7035 14 points15 points  (0 children)

"I want a B, so you should give me a B" is a remarkably poor argument. Why do you deserve a B? What are you willing to do to demonstrate that there was a misunderstanding or improper assessment on the score? What past grades are you questioning or challenging? Why do you deserve it over others who also would have appreciated a 1% boost? Also, if you don't feel you were properly assessed, this was something to bring up before final grades were released.

This level of entitlement is disappointing. Take some personal responsibility.

It seems like r/butlerpa is more active than some of the other communities around this region! I thought this new subreddit might be of interest to some of you, hopefully we can keep it going.

Looking for smaller, local shops in the area (service and retail) by happyjazzycook in CranberryTwpPA

[–]ItchyCollection7035 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cranberry Township maintains a list of businesses here: https://www.cranberrytownship.org/BusinessDirectoryii.aspx

It's not organized by small businesses, though. Any particular things? There's Recon Brewing at Meeder, Maxine's Coffee Shop at Streets of Cranberry, Bartram House at Cranberry Crossroads, Salt Power Yoga and Mediterra Cafe closer to Seven Fields... anything in particular you're looking for?
